Show Notes

This week we review comedy megastar Tom Segura in his 2016 special Mostly Stories. But of course first you'll want to hear the scintiallating discussion of the Oh Brother Where Are Thou? movie soundtrack (again), a riveting anecdote about escorting Ani DeFranco to her tour bus and a quick vox pop on swimwear styles. You can see the special on Netflix: Mostly Stories. You should watch it before listening to the review.

Theme music: El Cha Cha Man by Juanitos. Juanitos, led by Juan Naveira, is the single French rock'n'roll and soul band mixing latin soul, exotica, acid jazz, punk, vocal pop and sometimes reggae roots in the Jackie Mittoo style. They are very good.

[00:00:08] Speaker A: Red Rob. [00:00:08] Speaker B: There we go. [00:00:09] Speaker A: Red Rob. [00:00:10] Speaker C: Did you. [00:00:11] Speaker A: Red Rob. [00:00:12] Speaker B: Oh, actually, hold on. Oh, never mind. [00:00:16] Speaker C: Did you watch the comedy special of the chap whose link I sent for the music then? [00:00:23] Speaker B: I don't. I don't think so. [00:00:24] Speaker A: You send a chap's link. [00:00:26] Speaker B: What was it? [00:00:27] Speaker C: I sent you a music link yesterday and said, Christ, this is like from oh Brother, Wear Out Thou. [00:00:32] Speaker A: You replied to it the Soggy Bottom Band. Soggy River Bottom. [00:00:37] Speaker C: There's a comedian in Chicago and he recorded an album and it's very. It sounds like, you know, the oh, Brother, Where Art Thou? Soundtrack. It's all this sort of appellation. Yeah, sounds like that. [00:00:52] Speaker B: Yeah, I know what you're talking about. [00:00:53] Speaker A: We talked about this on this program before about the old brother. We're out there on music. We did, right. [00:00:59] Speaker B: It's very topical right now with the Odyssey having come out. It's all the rage. People are seeing it in 4d. O brother, art Thou is the Coen Brothers interpretation of the Odyssey. [00:01:14] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:01:15] Speaker B: Go back and watch it again and think about the Odyssey. [00:01:17] Speaker A: I did watch and I. And I picked up no Odyssey. [00:01:20] Speaker B: Really? [00:01:20] Speaker C: Yeah. Who's the dog? There's no dog in. [00:01:23] Speaker B: They're all like. They're all representations. I don't know. [00:01:26] Speaker A: Who are the Lotus Eaters? [00:01:30] Speaker C: That's a band. [00:01:31] Speaker A: Who's Scylla and Charybdis? [00:01:34] Speaker B: Who's the Sirens? [00:01:35] Speaker A: Who are the Sirens? Who's the one Eyed giant? Cyclops Giant. [00:01:40] Speaker C: Well, that's obviously Goodman, isn't it? He's got one. [00:01:43] Speaker B: Yeah, right. [00:01:44] Speaker A: Oh, he does. [00:01:45] Speaker C: Beats the shit out of him. [00:01:46] Speaker A: Must have fallen asleep. [00:01:50] Speaker C: Sirens. [00:01:53] Speaker A: How's that song go? [00:01:54] Speaker C: I'm not gonna. The Lotus Eaters had a song called the First Picture of you. The first picture of Summer. [00:01:59] Speaker B: The Sirens are the women that were bathing in the river at the beginning. [00:02:07] Speaker A: How's that? That main song? [00:02:09] Speaker B: That one's Something Something, A Constant Sorrow. [00:02:14] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah, I like that song. [00:02:18] Speaker B: Yeah, that's a great song. [00:02:19] Speaker A: I almost. I should have bought it. I was gonna get the CD at the Thrift. They had it. I didn't. I'm not gonna listen to that in the car. [00:02:25] Speaker B: Yeah, you might, though, you know, you never know. I could see driving around to that. [00:02:29] Speaker A: The T Bone Burnettes. I think it is T Bone Burnett, [00:02:33] Speaker B: the artist that made the song. [00:02:34] Speaker A: Yeah. I think it's his music that. Yeah. [00:02:37] Speaker B: Oh, that's just one guy's name. T Bone. [00:02:39] Speaker A: T Bone Burnett. Burnett Famous. [00:02:42] Speaker C: We're off to a flying star. [00:02:44] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. This is riveting. [00:02:45] Speaker A: Listen, you can't always talk about how it's not going well. Just let it breathe. Let it go. You always talking about how the show's not going well. [00:02:56] Speaker C: I had an agenda item. [00:02:57] Speaker A: Yeah, that's. [00:02:58] Speaker B: What is it? [00:02:58] Speaker C: Let's get to that. [00:03:00] Speaker B: What's your agenda item? [00:03:01] Speaker C: I sent you that screenshot this morning. [00:03:03] Speaker B: Oh. Yeah. [00:03:04] Speaker A: I couldn't make it. [00:03:04] Speaker B: I want to figure out what you were just telling me about that. I replied to and. And didn't watch. Was it a text or an email? [00:03:12] Speaker C: Is it text? [00:03:13] Speaker A: Oh, this is going really well. [00:03:14] Speaker B: Yeah, you can't, like, bring it up when it's not going well. You just gotta let it breathe. [00:03:19] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. [00:03:21] Speaker C: So it looked the text I sent was the bottom countries, the people that really don't like us. [00:03:29] Speaker A: Oh. [00:03:30] Speaker B: Oh, I know what you're talking about. Yeah. [00:03:31] Speaker C: And so it's quite interesting to me. So we are least ranked in Las Vegas, which is disappointing. [00:03:39] Speaker A: We've got some friends of the show out there as well. [00:03:41] Speaker C: Who? [00:03:41] Speaker A: C.J. sullivan. [00:03:42] Speaker B: We've got a lot of listeners in Germany. [00:03:44] Speaker C: He doesn't live there. [00:03:45] Speaker A: He doesn't live there, but he basically does. [00:03:46] Speaker B: Where is he? La? [00:03:48] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:03:48] Speaker C: Danbury, New Hampshire. I'm assuming is a lot of your relatives. [00:03:52] Speaker A: I don't know nobody in Danbury. [00:03:54] Speaker B: I'm surprised we don't have people in Buffalo. Listen, at least it doesn't show up because I know. I know. My sister listens. [00:04:00] Speaker C: Maybe they're in the middle. [00:04:01] Speaker A: Yeah, maybe you have an aunt there that listens. [00:04:04] Speaker B: No, my sister listens, my friend Juliet listens, and then I think that's it. [00:04:08] Speaker C: And then Beverly Hills, California, we're not tracking, which is disappointing. [00:04:13] Speaker A: Yeah, right. We're not. You're really drilling down into neighborhoods. [00:04:16] Speaker C: Yeah, but what made me laugh was jostling shoulder by jowl with Beverly Hills is Cicero, Illinois. [00:04:24] Speaker A: We're doing well there. [00:04:25] Speaker C: Yeah, we are. We're doing better than Beverly Hills. We're. That should be our new catchphrase. Bigger in Cicero than Beverly Hills. [00:04:34] Speaker B: Yeah, let's put in a sticker. [00:04:36] Speaker A: We're gonna get some merch for this. [00:04:37] Speaker B: Yeah, let's get merch. [00:04:38] Speaker C: Piss off. [00:04:39] Speaker A: Come on. [00:04:39] Speaker B: I like merch. [00:04:40] Speaker A: Can we finally change the fucking sloth? Can we get that out? [00:04:43] Speaker B: I like the sloth. [00:04:45] Speaker C: Yeah, do it now. [00:04:46] Speaker B: It's a good thing. [00:04:46] Speaker A: It's like clip art. [00:04:48] Speaker B: I can. I can order a clip art. I'll order some stickers. It is. It definitely is. AI. I know, but I'll order some stickers when I order the rebranded stickers. For our piano show, I'm changing the name from Christian and Christian Dueling Pianos to Piano Party with an exclamation mark. [00:05:04] Speaker A: Piano Party. [00:05:05] Speaker B: Piano Party. Yep. Because, you know, the Christian. Christian thing, like, I think it's confusing with the religious undertones. You know, I've always kind of two Christians. Yeah. People are like, wait, are these. Are they religious? No. And then. [00:05:18] Speaker C: Do you remember the band called the Christians? [00:05:20] Speaker B: No. [00:05:21] Speaker A: Sister Christian Night Ranger. [00:05:22] Speaker C: The Christians was quite a very well accomplished, popular band. [00:05:28] Speaker B: Really? [00:05:28] Speaker C: In the 90s. [00:05:29] Speaker B: I never heard of them. Yeah. But also I was thinking about it recently. We were playing a show around the corner at Oz Tap, and I was thinking about it. [00:05:37] Speaker A: That's a hard Scrabble place. Oz Tap. [00:05:39] Speaker B: Hardscrabble? [00:05:40] Speaker A: Yeah, like playing Scrabble. It's a dinge. [00:05:43] Speaker B: Oh, isn't it dingy? [00:05:45] Speaker A: If I'm thinking about the right place. [00:05:46] Speaker B: No, it's definitely not dingy. There's a koi fish pond in the back. Oh, it's really nice. [00:05:51] Speaker C: And I was thinking a bunch of weirdos show up. [00:05:54] Speaker B: No. You know, it's the weirdest thing. It's. I call it Galway West. It's like it's two old men that own it. And it's like the youngest crowd you ever saw in your life. And like, how'd you. I'm always watching them come through the door and I'm like, how'd you find this place? There's just like an old style sign hanging outside. [00:06:10] Speaker A: Yeah, that's thinking of the right place. [00:06:12] Speaker B: It used to be, I think, like three years ago they bought it and they renovated the whole thing. [00:06:17] Speaker A: Now it's hipster. [00:06:17] Speaker B: They gutted it and now it's not hipster. It's. But they. They did a really good job. There's a patio with a fireplace, but yeah, Gets a young crowd. And I was thinking, we don't really do dueling pianos. You know, it's basically just Borky and I playing the piano. We don't do like the whole back and forth thing like you would expect, like on some cruise ship or like Las Vegas show, you know? So I'm like, I don't want people to not hire us because they're like, well, I don't want to hear a bunch of hokey Elton John songs, you know? [00:06:44] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:06:45] Speaker B: So I'm changing the name. [00:06:46] Speaker A: Piano Party. [00:06:47] Speaker B: Piano Party. [00:06:48] Speaker C: Did you play Time for the Percolator? [00:06:50] Speaker B: No, I. I did try to find the drum beat for it on YouTube, but I. [00:06:56] Speaker C: He didn't know this song. It's time for the Percolator it's time for the. [00:07:01] Speaker B: Do you know the song? [00:07:02] Speaker A: I don't think so. [00:07:02] Speaker B: Ah, there we go. I'm not the only one. [00:07:05] Speaker A: Not from his tone deaf rendition, but maybe if I actually heard it. [00:07:08] Speaker B: Oh, that's. That's pretty much spot on, though. [00:07:10] Speaker C: Yeah, it's a 90s club classic. Maybe early 20s, early 2000s. [00:07:15] Speaker B: Really? I should know. [00:07:18] Speaker C: It's time for the percolator. It's time for the percolator. [00:07:22] Speaker A: Stop saying that. [00:07:24] Speaker C: It's time for the percolator. [00:07:26] Speaker A: Oh, I think so. Maybe now that he laid that beat behind it. Now I think I've got it. You seem to know a lot about music. Would you. [00:07:34] Speaker C: Oh, yeah, yeah. [00:07:35] Speaker B: Mark knows a lot about music. [00:07:36] Speaker C: I am. I am Mr. Music. I was very. Have we again, this is a. Did we discuss this? I feel like because of the trauma of my early childhood, I locked onto music very quickly indeed. [00:07:50] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:07:50] Speaker C: I remember T. Rex when I was like three years old. Mm. [00:07:56] Speaker B: I think. I don't think we talked about that on the program, but I think you and I have discussed that while, you know, just doing work around here. [00:08:03] Speaker A: So you latched on to music at an early age. [00:08:06] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:08:06] Speaker A: What did you latch onto? [00:08:08] Speaker B: I. I was huge into music, but I didn't. It's kind of funny. I was a huge Beatles fan. That was my. That was my thing. I listened to a lot of Beatles and then alternative music. When that became popular, that was my jam right there. Google Dolls. The Goo Goo Dolls are from Buffalo. And so maybe that had something to do with it. But yeah, it was just a lot of alternative music. 103.3 the Edge. [00:08:34] Speaker A: You would consider them alternative music? [00:08:36] Speaker B: Yeah, I think they fit that category. [00:08:37] Speaker A: I mean, they're so mainstream. [00:08:39] Speaker B: Yeah, they are now, but they started out as a punk band, though. They would play at. There was a place that my mom's boyfriend owned, Essex Street Pub. They were the house band there, and it was all punk music. And I think they lived upstairs too, if I Remember correctly. Annie DeFranco would also play there. She's from the Buffalo area. [00:08:59] Speaker A: She is. [00:09:00] Speaker C: I have an Annie DeFranco story. Do we have time? [00:09:02] Speaker B: Yeah, we got. [00:09:03] Speaker A: You stayed at the condo? [00:09:04] Speaker C: No. One time my mate said, oh, I. We were going out and my mate says, oh my. Let's. I gotta go pick my other mate up. He's a tech guy and he. He teched the Annie DeFranco concert tonight. And we're like, oh, okay then. So we're just. Too long. We're like, we're not sitting through Annie the Franco, but we'll go there and collect your mate once he's done. So we get there, his mates packing up all the soundboard and everything. He's running the soundboard and then this, this bloke comes up to him, goes, hey, lads, can you just help me for a sec? Ani DiFranco's gotta get from the venue to the tour bus. I swear I've said this story I [00:09:42] Speaker B: don't think I never heard about anything. [00:09:43] Speaker C: Annie DeFranco's gotta get from the venue to the tour bus. She wants to get to the tour bus and get changed and then meet the kids. [00:09:50] Speaker A: Keeping Tom's story. [00:09:51] Speaker C: There's a lot of burgeoning young lesbians. The. You know, the coach. Right. [00:09:56] Speaker B: So you got your video camera ready? [00:09:58] Speaker C: Yeah. So she's like. So he's like, I need you. And she's. She's tiny. I mean, she is like an elf, like Steph Tola. And so I'm not that tall and two other lads. And he goes, what I want you to do is walk around her like the President's security. [00:10:17] Speaker B: Yeah. Right. [00:10:19] Speaker C: Kids can't see her. And you're gonna shimmy up to the back door. You know the coaches always have a back door. [00:10:26] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:10:26] Speaker C: And she's gonna like jump through the door, you know what I mean, and get on the coach. [00:10:31] Speaker A: What do you mean, coach? Mean boss. [00:10:33] Speaker C: Yeah, boss. Okay, Tour boss. So she can just quickly get changed before she goes. Cuz she, you know, these kids will keep her there for hours. Just like, annie, we love you. Blah, blah, blah. So, yeah. [00:10:44] Speaker A: So what year is this? [00:10:45] Speaker C: This is. I want to say this is. This has got to be 97, 98. So, yeah, we meet Annie. Oh, yeah. And she's like, oh, you my security detail then, blah, blah. And then we just move down like this weird, you know, like formation, like the Red Arrows or some. And then she quickly shimmies onto the bus and we like disperse like jets, [00:11:11] Speaker A: like it didn't even happen. [00:11:13] Speaker B: The Blue Angels. [00:11:14] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:11:14] Speaker A: And then. Did you get her? Sure. She didn't get off the bus after that. She went on. [00:11:18] Speaker C: Well, we off to go out on the piss with this lad who had been doing the sound. We never. [00:11:23] Speaker A: Yeah, you went on the piss. [00:11:25] Speaker C: Yep. I assume she met the kids because that's what, you know, her image was. Right. [00:11:30] Speaker A: That was here in Chicago. [00:11:31] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:11:32] Speaker A: The Vic. [00:11:33] Speaker C: I don't think it was the Vic. I think, like, I don't remember the venue, so it couldn't have been a main streamy sort of place. I mean it was big because we had to. Also we went back and helped them carry the sound mixing board and that thing was like, you know, you've seen it. [00:11:49] Speaker A: Yeah, they're big. [00:11:50] Speaker C: There's one of them. [00:11:51] Speaker A: Yeah, but. So you're very into music. Took refuge in music at a young age. But I don't know you to play anything. No, you can't play anything. Yeah. Have you ever played any kind of instrument? [00:12:00] Speaker C: Nah, we. They tried to make the skin flute. [00:12:03] Speaker A: You ever try that? Where's the sound effects, bro? Well, I teed that one up for [00:12:09] Speaker B: it and when she gave me a warning. [00:12:11] Speaker C: But no, they tried to make us. You learn an instrument at school but can be asked. [00:12:18] Speaker A: What did you try to learn? [00:12:20] Speaker C: I think, you know, they gave us like recorders and. [00:12:22] Speaker A: Well, not every kid does that in [00:12:24] Speaker C: the xylophone, but yeah, I never tried it. [00:12:26] Speaker B: They didn't do recorders at my school. So I was never. I was always confused whenever somebody. Because it's like a classic trope ish sort of thing, you know, like. Oh, you know, when you learn to play the recorder, it's always like I was thinking like tape recorder. Like what are people talking about? [00:12:38] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:12:40] Speaker B: Maybe it's because it was a. It was a Christian school. [00:12:43] Speaker C: What's the first. I think we talked about this because you were hiding the Beatles because you felt right. So you said. [00:12:49] Speaker B: I was embarrassed. [00:12:50] Speaker C: We talk about first. Yeah, we did the other week. [00:12:52] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:12:53] Speaker C: Oh God, it's gonna be one of them. What age though? [00:12:59] Speaker A: What age? [00:12:59] Speaker C: What did you. Were you first music aware? [00:13:05] Speaker B: Yeah, [00:13:07] Speaker A: yeah, I used to listen in my. In the car with my dad. He used to listen to like Lou Rawls and Billy Joel guys. Neil Diamond. Probably my earliest listening to Neil Diamond. You Don't Bring Me Flowers. That, that album. Great album. Fucking great. [00:13:25] Speaker C: But did you seek music out like. Well, I like that. [00:13:28] Speaker A: I want more Men at work was the journey. Men at work, first couple. [00:13:34] Speaker C: Real shite. [00:13:35] Speaker A: Well, you know popular music in 1980, 82, something like that. Yeah, but I didn't take. I wasn't like you. I didn't glom on to glom on. I didn't. I didn't seek music for my early pain. It was adult films. [00:13:50] Speaker B: Really. [00:13:51] Speaker A: Well, stag films. [00:13:53] Speaker B: Wow. [00:13:54] Speaker A: Early stag films. [00:13:55] Speaker B: That kind of adds up. Yeah, right. You can kind of see it. [00:13:59] Speaker C: Well, you're a five year old digging stag films out of the locker in you. [00:14:03] Speaker A: Stag films, mags, things like that. In the early. Yeah, early stuff like that. [00:14:09] Speaker C: We never had this convo about how you don't. You didn't used to find porn mags under hedges in America. [00:14:14] Speaker B: Oh, definitely. Yeah. There was always. Yeah. If you go into the woods, you're going to find some porn somewhere. [00:14:19] Speaker C: Okay. [00:14:20] Speaker A: Maybe We. We don't realize what we've talked about because we haven't been together. [00:14:22] Speaker B: It's been a long time. [00:14:23] Speaker A: For months. [00:14:24] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:14:24] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:14:25] Speaker A: Well, we banked so many episodes that we've been out for six months. [00:14:31] Speaker B: We've all had a birthday. A birthday. [00:14:33] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:14:33] Speaker B: Easy for me to say, right? [00:14:34] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:14:37] Speaker B: A beer. What was Norm MacDonald's joke to Bjork? Happy birthday. [00:14:42] Speaker A: Happy Bjork Day. No, I don't know. [00:14:43] Speaker B: No, it's Bearth Day. [00:14:44] Speaker A: Be Earth Day. [00:14:46] Speaker B: I was just watching Dirty Work yesterday. [00:14:48] Speaker A: That's a good one. [00:14:49] Speaker B: It's. It's. It's so underrated. [00:14:51] Speaker A: So great. [00:14:52] Speaker B: Yeah. Like, every scene's hilarious. [00:14:53] Speaker A: You think it's terrible? [00:14:54] Speaker C: Terrible? [00:14:55] Speaker B: Yeah. I don't understand what people think. Heard that opinion a lot that people think it's terrible. As a matter of fact, I avoided watching it for a long time because of that. Until I finally watched, I was like, this is. Everybody's in this and it's awesome. [00:15:06] Speaker A: Tons of people in it. It's great. [00:15:08] Speaker C: Maybe it's the expectation of greatness. [00:15:10] Speaker B: Yeah, maybe. [00:15:11] Speaker C: Maybe it's just average. But with the people in it, you're expecting more. [00:15:17] Speaker A: Well, speaking of movies, since we've been away for so long, I brought gifts. Did you bring me anything today? [00:15:20] Speaker C: Yes, I did, actually. F you. [00:15:23] Speaker B: Yeah, F you. Thinking otherwise. [00:15:27] Speaker A: Did you bring me a gift? Yes. [00:15:29] Speaker B: Yeah. Go fuck yourself. [00:15:30] Speaker C: Should we split the gift given into the. Across the episodes? [00:15:35] Speaker A: What? What? What are you talking about? [00:15:36] Speaker B: With it. [00:15:37] Speaker A: One episode today. Here you go, Christian. For the new Spider man film. [00:15:40] Speaker B: All right. It kind of looks like me. [00:15:42] Speaker A: Yep. There's. It's fully loaded. [00:15:44] Speaker B: Okay. [00:15:44] Speaker A: Pez dispenser. [00:15:46] Speaker B: Can we do this? Can we do the toss? Oh, yeah. All right. [00:15:50] Speaker A: And then here's two refills. [00:15:52] Speaker B: Hey. All right. [00:15:54] Speaker A: And for you, sir? I'm gonna let you open this. This is for you. Nice bag. [00:16:00] Speaker B: It is a nice bag. [00:16:01] Speaker A: For those at home. It's a canvas bag. It says Lucille on it. One of my students. Lucille. [00:16:06] Speaker C: Oh, God. Yeah. [00:16:07] Speaker A: It might have gotten in transit. Tossed. Tossed around a little bit, but Because. Because of your. I don't know where you're at with your diet, but your poor diet. [00:16:19] Speaker C: What is it? [00:16:20] Speaker A: Open it up. Doesn't it say on there? [00:16:22] Speaker C: It says vegan? [00:16:23] Speaker B: I was wondering, Bill, when you saw Mark, today, did you notice a notable difference in his body? [00:16:29] Speaker A: Yeah, I didn't. [00:16:31] Speaker B: I was just remarking on this the other day when. [00:16:34] Speaker C: How. How old is this? [00:16:36] Speaker A: I just got it a couple hours ago. [00:16:38] Speaker C: All right, cheers. So what is it? [00:16:39] Speaker B: What is it? [00:16:40] Speaker A: It's a vegan lunch from my place of employment. I can't say on the air where I work, but it's. They gave out lunch today and I had already brought my lunch. [00:16:48] Speaker B: I love a free lunch. It's the best. [00:16:51] Speaker A: And I ate the lunch that I made this morning and I sacked that up for you because I know you're trying to eat healthy. [00:16:57] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:16:57] Speaker A: And so where are we with that? I didn't notice. I try not to look at people's bodies. [00:17:01] Speaker B: You know, I noticed it in the face. I didn't see him for like four days and then I saw. I thought, wow, he looks. [00:17:07] Speaker A: Well, you've been sucking on lemons to make yourself look thinner. [00:17:11] Speaker C: I have been holding. True. I've lost 20 pounds. [00:17:13] Speaker B: 20 pounds? [00:17:15] Speaker A: What? [00:17:15] Speaker B: That's like. That's like a four. [00:17:16] Speaker A: Last time we were at 13 pounds. What do you. What are you on GLP ones? [00:17:22] Speaker C: No, I just. [00:17:23] Speaker B: Are you doing the. Oh, what do they call it? [00:17:25] Speaker C: It comes in big chunks. I hit a wall and then boom. Yeah, yeah. [00:17:30] Speaker A: You were at a wall last time and now you're. [00:17:32] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:17:32] Speaker A: Wow. 20. [00:17:33] Speaker C: That's a lot scaling that wall. [00:17:35] Speaker A: Let me have a look at you. [00:17:37] Speaker B: Yeah, give us a twirl, give us a twirl, Anthea. [00:17:41] Speaker C: No, it's just. I'll tell you what. I went to put my trousers. [00:17:44] Speaker A: 12 year old boy. [00:17:48] Speaker C: This is just softballs at this point. I went to put my trousers on the other day and I was like, here we go. [00:17:52] Speaker A: You know, your trousers dropped off. They fell right to your ankles. [00:17:56] Speaker C: Holy fuck. I don't need a belt. [00:17:58] Speaker A: Wait, you would need a belt. If you've lost weight, your trousers would fall to your ankles, requiring a belt. You're saying you did need a belt? [00:18:07] Speaker C: No, I didn't need the belt to. Well, I did. No, I'd say, yeah, I pulled the belt in. [00:18:13] Speaker A: Oh, you pulled it in? [00:18:14] Speaker C: Yeah. Yeah. [00:18:15] Speaker A: You had to drill another hole in your belt? [00:18:17] Speaker C: No, I just dropped back down to one of the ones that I've traveled through through the years. Yeah. [00:18:23] Speaker A: Another notch in the belt. [00:18:24] Speaker B: There we go. [00:18:25] Speaker C: Another brick in the wall. [00:18:26] Speaker A: How are you feeling? [00:18:28] Speaker C: Actually, I set back the other day. I did one of those ones where, you know, you're waking up and you sort of semi conscious and you stretch. [00:18:40] Speaker A: Yes. [00:18:40] Speaker C: And Holy. [00:18:42] Speaker A: You pulled something. [00:18:43] Speaker C: Pulled something major. And I have not felt pain like that since my motorcycle racing days. [00:18:50] Speaker A: Was like a cramp. [00:18:51] Speaker C: Yeah. I don't know. It was like something went twang, you know what I mean? And it was like. [00:18:55] Speaker A: Twang where? [00:18:56] Speaker C: Back of the calf. What do you call this? The lower part of your leg? This bit? There's like a knot. [00:19:03] Speaker A: The calf. [00:19:03] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:19:03] Speaker A: You didn't. You don't have. You don't have a word for that part of your body. It's a calf. [00:19:07] Speaker C: I just woke up screaming in pain. [00:19:09] Speaker A: That's a cramp, right? [00:19:11] Speaker B: It's got. It could be a pull, could be a muscle tear. [00:19:14] Speaker A: It went away though, right? [00:19:15] Speaker C: No, it started. [00:19:16] Speaker A: Oh, it's still there all day. [00:19:17] Speaker C: And there's like a knot in the muscle. [00:19:19] Speaker A: Were you eating Chinese food the night before? [00:19:21] Speaker C: No. [00:19:22] Speaker B: Why? The salt. [00:19:24] Speaker A: That'll do it sometimes. [00:19:25] Speaker C: No, I think it just subcon. Like, I. My brain wasn't telling. My body, don't stretch that hard. [00:19:31] Speaker A: Well, I didn't notice you gimping when you went to the door today. [00:19:36] Speaker B: Are you allowed to say that still? [00:19:37] Speaker A: Yeah, gimping. [00:19:38] Speaker B: Is that still on the table? [00:19:42] Speaker A: You're right. Limping. I meant limping. [00:19:44] Speaker C: All right. But that might be that. [00:19:46] Speaker A: Okay. But you've lost £20. I'm more. I'm more interested in your diet. [00:19:51] Speaker C: Right. [00:19:52] Speaker A: Than the. The weight loss. [00:19:53] Speaker C: So. [00:19:54] Speaker A: The weight loss is great. Are you eating well, like eating vegan food like I just gave you, or are you eating one hot dog a day and that's it? [00:20:02] Speaker C: Nope, I have one eat out a week and that might be something shy tea. But I've got, you know, got rid of the chocolate and the pop and the desserts, so, I mean, mountains of watermelon, really. And then there's a thing, the watermelon diet. Yeah. And then I have fur. Instead of having, like, tater tots or something nice with the. The side, I have these. I buy these packets of broccoli slaw, it's called. [00:20:35] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, yeah. It's like a. [00:20:37] Speaker C: It's kind of like that. [00:20:37] Speaker A: So pre. It's a kit. [00:20:38] Speaker C: It's kind of like the lips and of the vegetable world. It's like carrots and cabbage and. Yeah. Just shredded bits in there. [00:20:46] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:20:47] Speaker C: I just have some of that. And then I slap some balsamic vinegar on it. [00:20:51] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:20:51] Speaker A: Instead of tater tots. [00:20:53] Speaker C: Instead of like an unhealthy starch. [00:20:55] Speaker B: And do you find now that you start to crave that sort of thing rather than tater tots as time Rolls by. [00:21:01] Speaker C: Nah, I'll always want to eat the shit. [00:21:02] Speaker B: Really? [00:21:03] Speaker C: Yeah. That ain't going away. [00:21:05] Speaker B: I don't know. I started doing something similar a long time ago, and after a while, tater tots were just not appealing. I'd be looking forward to that salad. [00:21:14] Speaker A: You know, you eat the salad every morning still. Yeah. [00:21:17] Speaker B: In the summertime now, my. My routine's a little different. You know, I might just, like, be right out the door right away, so I might not want to take the time for the salad. So I might just eat some chicken real quick and head up. [00:21:28] Speaker C: What I find with healthy food is. Is you just need to tweak the taste of it, and then you don't really care. Right? [00:21:35] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:21:35] Speaker C: Like, the whole thing for me was like, I don't want to eat broccoli. It's boring. I don't want to eat cauliflower. It's boring. And like, in America, obviously, what people do is go, I'm gonna eat healthy. And then dump half a gallon of [00:21:48] Speaker B: blue cheese, ranch dressing, and cheddar, shredded cheddar and all that. [00:21:52] Speaker C: And I've never been into that. [00:21:53] Speaker B: That drives me nuts. When I go back home, when I go to Buffalo, you can't go out without ordering. If you order something healthy, it's gonna come doused in ranch and cheddar cheese. It's like, well, what's the point? Why am I here? [00:22:05] Speaker C: Yeah, but balsamic vinegar is my secret. [00:22:10] Speaker A: Yeah, secret. [00:22:11] Speaker B: I love some balsamic vinegar. [00:22:12] Speaker A: We've talked about vinegar here. And we were taking those red cider vinegar shots. [00:22:15] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:22:16] Speaker C: Right. [00:22:16] Speaker A: We realized it's not good to shoot it. [00:22:18] Speaker B: Like, that changed my life. [00:22:19] Speaker A: But vinegar is, you know, is. I think it's really important to have in some capacity in your diet. Right. [00:22:26] Speaker C: My cousin came through town, and holy. He was one fat bastard. [00:22:31] Speaker A: Really? [00:22:32] Speaker C: That meant talking, like, gigantic. [00:22:35] Speaker A: Bigger than the last time you saw him. [00:22:36] Speaker C: Massive. [00:22:37] Speaker A: What's going on with him? [00:22:38] Speaker C: But he said to me, he goes, oh, I've been eating loads of sauerkraut. And Heather said, well, that ain't all you're eating. [00:22:44] Speaker A: That's cabbage. [00:22:45] Speaker C: No, no. Yeah. I mean, and. But Heather was saying, oh, sauerkrauts. If you have the fresh sauerkraut, that's the best you can have. [00:22:52] Speaker A: It's just vinegar and cabbage, right? [00:22:54] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. [00:22:54] Speaker A: That's not what's making them. [00:22:56] Speaker C: Not the canned shite. [00:22:58] Speaker A: Does he listen to this program? [00:22:59] Speaker C: Nah. [00:23:00] Speaker A: So we can talk about him? [00:23:01] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah. He's very right wing. [00:23:03] Speaker A: Well, that you might feel good that he Was fat. Hold on. He was fat and you were thin. Made sure. [00:23:09] Speaker C: It kind of disappointed me. [00:23:11] Speaker A: Really? [00:23:11] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:23:12] Speaker A: He felt. Yeah. [00:23:13] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:23:13] Speaker A: Sad for him. [00:23:14] Speaker C: All right, ask me about him in another episode because he's got a whole interesting angle going on. But I got to do these presents. [00:23:21] Speaker A: Give me a present. I want a present. I'm getting a present a while. [00:23:24] Speaker C: The first up. Now I'm. I'm. I'm giving Christian a taste of his own medicine. [00:23:29] Speaker B: Johnny Paycheck. [00:23:30] Speaker A: Mr. Lovemaker. [00:23:31] Speaker C: With a. With a three choice thing. Right. [00:23:34] Speaker B: Okay. [00:23:34] Speaker C: So I found this awesome nylon vest. [00:23:39] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:23:40] Speaker C: With a cyber geeky seed division. [00:23:42] Speaker B: What is that? [00:23:44] Speaker C: I heard of Cybergeek. They're just like an industrial seed, like an industrial agriculture. Okay, so you got that. [00:23:52] Speaker B: That's on the table behind door number two. [00:23:55] Speaker A: He's gonna get a choice? [00:23:56] Speaker C: Yeah, he's got three. [00:23:57] Speaker B: I got three. Choice of three. [00:23:59] Speaker C: Three doors. [00:24:00] Speaker A: But he can have all three, or you just gotta pick. [00:24:01] Speaker B: No, I gotta pick one. I can't be greedy. [00:24:04] Speaker C: And then I got this. Bundled with this, I've got a vintage ashtray. Hiram Walker's 10 high. [00:24:12] Speaker B: Okay. Yeah, that's pretty cool. [00:24:14] Speaker C: That's quite. Quite a nice. [00:24:15] Speaker A: Can we smoke in here? [00:24:17] Speaker C: No. Okay, so that's door number one. They're Bund. That's a bundle. [00:24:21] Speaker B: That's a bundle. [00:24:21] Speaker C: That's a bundle. [00:24:23] Speaker A: Get smoke in here now. [00:24:24] Speaker C: Door number two. Door number two is an album. [00:24:29] Speaker A: It all smoky in here. [00:24:31] Speaker C: Door number two. In for just a second. [00:24:34] Speaker A: I'm locked in. I'm locked in. These aren't my gifts, so I don't really care. [00:24:37] Speaker B: He doesn't give a. [00:24:37] Speaker C: Door number two is a classic K Tel album from the late 80s called Don't Walk Boogie. It has the best of disco on it. [00:24:48] Speaker A: Okay, I think it's boogie, but. [00:24:49] Speaker C: Yeah, no, it's boogie. So it's like Boogie Oogie, Taste of Honey. More than a Woman. Tavares. [00:24:55] Speaker B: I mean, damn, that's a good lineup. [00:24:57] Speaker C: I'm Summer in the City. Evolution. Just let it lay, Gonzalez. [00:25:05] Speaker B: So is it like a compilation? [00:25:06] Speaker A: Every track. [00:25:08] Speaker C: English. [00:25:08] Speaker A: Horrible album. [00:25:09] Speaker C: It's an English compilation. See? [00:25:11] Speaker B: Are they. Are they remakes or are they. [00:25:13] Speaker C: No, no, it's the Orig. It's K Tel and men of a certain age like me, who were raised in England. Remember the adverts for this album from telly? But for some reason it's got I Love to Boogie by T. Rex on it. [00:25:29] Speaker B: Okay. [00:25:31] Speaker C: 2468, motorway. The Tom Robinson Band sing that. You know that 1, 2, 4, 6. [00:25:38] Speaker B: I don't know. [00:25:39] Speaker A: You remember, right? We're from. We're from America. [00:25:42] Speaker C: Yeah, but this is a classic. This is like the best of disco all in one album. Right? So that's door number two. [00:25:48] Speaker A: Okay, wait, so he can. He either gets the record or the jacket in the ashtray. [00:25:53] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah. Door number three is another album, man called River Chord by Douglas. Self produced album. A complete percussion library. Fifteen separate rhythms on one LP record. So if you've got a keyboard, you put this album on and it provides the percussion as you play along to it. So you, you know, that's interesting for you. So that's three doors knocked it out of the park here. [00:26:22] Speaker B: Yeah, that's really good. I'll tell you what, it's gonna be one of the albums. I think the vest is really cool. I know I would have nowhere to put the ashtray. So since they're a bundle. What's that? [00:26:34] Speaker A: Put it out in your home inviting people to smoke. [00:26:36] Speaker C: Yeah, you don't need it just for fags. You can put like screws in there and. [00:26:41] Speaker A: Yeah, like a key dish. [00:26:42] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, that's a good point too. [00:26:44] Speaker C: A big one. [00:26:45] Speaker B: I'm very interested in the music, though. I'm gonna go with the Boogie album. Yeah. [00:26:51] Speaker A: Don't Walk Boogie. [00:26:53] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. It just. It's too tempting. I can't resist that. [00:26:58] Speaker C: I got a Welsh mate of mine and we both ended up moving to America and we actually went sat down one time. We talked about. One of the first things when we came to America was when we saw it Don't Walk sign and we desperately wanted it to turn green. [00:27:15] Speaker A: Oh, so you. This is something you were filming? Well, familiar with this album? [00:27:19] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, it's a classic. [00:27:21] Speaker C: It was. It was on tell like it was. Do you remember K Tel Records? [00:27:25] Speaker A: It sounds familiar, but I can't. [00:27:26] Speaker C: No, they were advertising it all the time. [00:27:29] Speaker A: Let me see that. [00:27:29] Speaker C: It just seems so American. [00:27:32] Speaker A: Don't walk boogie. [00:27:33] Speaker C: Don't walk boogie. [00:27:34] Speaker A: Stop saying boogie. A boogie is so that, you know. [00:27:39] Speaker B: Boogeyman. [00:27:40] Speaker A: You remember Caddyshack? You've seen. [00:27:42] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:27:42] Speaker A: You must have seen Caddyshack, right? [00:27:44] Speaker B: It's an American film. [00:27:45] Speaker A: Yes, it's an American film. And in it, Judge Smales, his wife says to Spalding, remember the kid? She. She sees Danny, who's dressed up like a sailor jacket. You two look like a couple of boogies. [00:28:04] Speaker B: What does that mean? [00:28:04] Speaker A: A boogie is like a. Like a bump. [00:28:06] Speaker B: Oh, really? [00:28:07] Speaker C: Is that an East Coast? [00:28:09] Speaker B: I've never heard it. [00:28:10] Speaker C: Yeah, it's East Coast. [00:28:11] Speaker A: A couple of boogies. And boogie means to dance. And that's what this album is saying. Not boogie, boogie. [00:28:17] Speaker C: Saying don't walk boogie. [00:28:22] Speaker A: Yeah, I don't know any of these bands. Well, Sylvester. No, I don't know no one. Would any have heard of any of these? Except for T. Rex. That's the only one. All right. [00:28:33] Speaker C: Classic. [00:28:34] Speaker A: Yeah. Nice shape. The jacket's a nice shape. [00:28:39] Speaker B: Thank you very much. [00:28:40] Speaker A: Mark, can we get a record player in here? [00:28:41] Speaker B: Yeah, I've got a spare one. [00:28:43] Speaker A: Hang out, smoke and listen. Records and stuff. [00:28:45] Speaker B: We can. Yeah, let's start smoking in here. [00:28:47] Speaker A: Can we smoke in here, please? [00:28:48] Speaker C: Stop talking about let's. [00:28:49] Speaker B: Let's smoke in here. [00:28:50] Speaker A: I got the willies. [00:28:51] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:28:51] Speaker C: So here's the bill. No choices for below. [00:28:55] Speaker B: They should have a tagline. Give me the willies. [00:28:56] Speaker A: I've been saying I gotta have a willy. Oh, yes. Thank you, God. Thank you. It works. [00:29:02] Speaker C: Works. Tested. Forehead. [00:29:06] Speaker B: Oh, my God. [00:29:07] Speaker C: Forehead. [00:29:08] Speaker A: How many does a regular VCR have? [00:29:10] Speaker C: 2, but they did the foreheads. [00:29:11] Speaker A: What does that mean? [00:29:12] Speaker C: It's meant to be, like, better quality picture. [00:29:14] Speaker A: Oh, thank you, Jesus. Did you get it at the Flea? [00:29:17] Speaker C: Got it in Flea. [00:29:18] Speaker A: He didn't take me, but that's all right. [00:29:20] Speaker C: I'm not doing it out again. [00:29:23] Speaker B: You got delivery. [00:29:24] Speaker A: You take me to the Flea this weekend. Take me with you. [00:29:27] Speaker C: I haven't been the last two weeks. My neck, knee's been knocked too much. So it's tested, it's ready to rip. I didn't get it. I didn't get a remote, but I might be able to score one. [00:29:39] Speaker A: So funny, because one of our listeners, Brandon B. Rock Rockhold, asked me if I had a vcr. I said, no, it's broken. I'm looking for one. I think he wants to give me some kind of VHS now I have it. [00:29:51] Speaker C: Well, talking of giving you vhs. [00:29:53] Speaker A: Oh, you're gonna give me a VHS [00:29:54] Speaker B: to go with it? [00:29:54] Speaker C: Yeah, to get your love affair with VHS reignited. [00:29:57] Speaker A: Jealous? You got a fucking album? I got a high end electronic oh. In the wrapper. Oh, my God. [00:30:06] Speaker C: New inbox. Lethal Weapon 1, 2 and 3. [00:30:09] Speaker A: This is incredible. [00:30:11] Speaker C: All right, but just in case you don't want. [00:30:15] Speaker A: I only got you a lunch from my work. [00:30:18] Speaker C: Just in case you don't want to do some posh boxing to Patsy Kensett doing a South African accent. [00:30:23] Speaker A: Too much. Too much. [00:30:25] Speaker C: This one might get, get, get the Mrs. In the mood. [00:30:28] Speaker A: I don't think there's gonna be. [00:30:29] Speaker B: What is this? [00:30:30] Speaker A: Is that an adult Edwards 10, Bo Derek, the seminal saucy Romp Saucy romp from my youth. Oh, yes. [00:30:41] Speaker C: Just to just tell your old lady it's a comedy luller in the next thing you know. [00:30:47] Speaker A: She doesn't bear all in this, does she? I don't think. [00:30:50] Speaker C: I think she does. [00:30:51] Speaker A: She bears all. [00:30:52] Speaker C: So does Julie Andrews. This is the only nudity Julie Andrews ever did. [00:30:55] Speaker A: I think she's nude in this. [00:30:58] Speaker C: I think you got a topless. [00:30:59] Speaker A: Oh, my God. [00:31:00] Speaker C: Blake Edwards was her husband. Yes. [00:31:04] Speaker A: Yes. Julie Andrews. This is too much. Yeah. This is like the greatest gifts I've ever got. [00:31:09] Speaker B: Quite the haul. How'd you fit this all on your bike? [00:31:12] Speaker A: Took this on the bike. [00:31:13] Speaker B: Yeah. There's a lot of stuff here. [00:31:15] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:31:15] Speaker A: I don't want it. This Lethal Weapon box set is still in the plastic. I almost don't want to even open it. [00:31:23] Speaker C: Look at the price that it's. [00:31:24] Speaker A: They're individually wrapped within the box set too. [00:31:26] Speaker C: Look at the price on the side. That's some. Paid for. [00:31:29] Speaker A: 49.97. [00:31:32] Speaker C: At what point was the Lethal Weapon box set worth 50 bucks? [00:31:36] Speaker A: Did you get this at Thrift or Flea? [00:31:38] Speaker C: Flea. [00:31:39] Speaker A: Are the prices better at Flea or Thrift? [00:31:43] Speaker C: Flea. [00:31:45] Speaker A: Flea. [00:31:45] Speaker C: Flea. I mean, there's some piss takers at the Flea. There are some piss takers, but you just walk, stroll on by. Oh, a VHS. They tend to be better at the thrift. They're 99 cents generally at the Thrift because they just want shot of them. [00:32:03] Speaker A: Yeah, well, I've been. I've not been buying VHS because I didn't have anything to play it on, but from what I hear, VHS people are out grabbing them up. [00:32:12] Speaker C: Yeah, apparently, yeah. [00:32:14] Speaker B: Are they trendy again? [00:32:15] Speaker A: Yeah, they're trendy. [00:32:16] Speaker C: That's why I grabbed a couple of the players, because the players are going to dry up. [00:32:20] Speaker A: Now I'm showing you Bo Derek on the COVID of this and she's in a one piece. [00:32:26] Speaker B: Yep. [00:32:26] Speaker A: Do you find a one piece more attractive on a woman or a two piece? I like a one piece. I want a little hidden. [00:32:34] Speaker B: Yeah, right. [00:32:35] Speaker A: I want more mystery. Yeah. I want more mystery and I want more clothing to remove. [00:32:42] Speaker B: Well, it's actually less clothing to remove because it's only one piece. [00:32:45] Speaker A: No, but it's more surface area. Yeah, More fabric. [00:32:49] Speaker B: Surface area. [00:32:49] Speaker A: But one item, like a one piece. [00:32:52] Speaker C: Would you like to see him in Victorian bathing frilly knickers and stuff? [00:32:59] Speaker A: Same with. With an underpant on a gal. [00:33:01] Speaker B: An underpants? [00:33:02] Speaker A: Yeah. I like a. I like a. Like a underalls type of underwear. I don't like a tea Back Or a whale's tail? [00:33:10] Speaker B: A tea. [00:33:11] Speaker A: Yeah, I don't like a thong too much. [00:33:13] Speaker B: Thongs aren't popular anymore, are they? [00:33:15] Speaker A: Well, if you've been to Hurricane harbor recently, they are. [00:33:18] Speaker B: Where's that? [00:33:19] Speaker A: Out in gurney at Six Flags. Hurricane Harbor. I was there this weekend. [00:33:23] Speaker B: Oh. [00:33:23] Speaker A: Ripping slides with my young boy. There's a lot of flesh at that thing. A lot of flesh. And it's not the kind of flesh you want to see. [00:33:31] Speaker B: Yeah, it never is. [00:33:32] Speaker C: It's for poor folk Midwest. [00:33:35] Speaker A: Yeah, apparently. I didn't realize I was poor. I am. Well, yeah, I knew I was. [00:33:40] Speaker C: I think the wealthies go to the. There's a couple of hotels up there with really big inbuilt. [00:33:46] Speaker A: Oh, water parks. Yeah, like Great Wolf Lodge and stuff. I should have went there. [00:33:50] Speaker C: It's where the wealthies go. [00:33:52] Speaker A: Yeah, I would know anything about that. Friends. Well, Mark, this is too much. I am so excited. I can't wait to get home. [00:33:59] Speaker B: I almost don't even want to share mine after how, you know, thoughtful this all was. [00:34:05] Speaker A: Oh, you have something. [00:34:05] Speaker B: Yeah, I've got. I went next door to the thrift [00:34:07] Speaker A: store when I came here. You did? [00:34:08] Speaker B: Yeah, I did come empty handed. But then I went next door and got you both. [00:34:11] Speaker A: All right, let's go. What do. [00:34:12] Speaker B: All right. Okay. Well, for Mark, I have a dvd. It's the Carol Burnett show. Something I thought you might enjoy. [00:34:20] Speaker A: We talked about this a long time ago. I think I brought up Carol Burnett. He doesn't even know who she is. [00:34:24] Speaker B: Perfect, now you can find out. [00:34:27] Speaker A: And I went crazy because how could you own a comedy place and not know who the greatest female comedian of all time. [00:34:33] Speaker C: Yeah, that's a female comedian you actually like. Respect. [00:34:38] Speaker A: No, I hate her classic sketches such [00:34:40] Speaker B: as the family Mrs. Wiggins, the ham actor. You know the ham actor. [00:34:46] Speaker A: You need to watch this, Mark. And so you can, you know, and [00:34:48] Speaker B: as the stomach churns. So here you go, Mark. [00:34:54] Speaker A: Carol Burnett. [00:34:56] Speaker B: Burnett. [00:34:56] Speaker C: I know that most female American comedians quote her as a influence. [00:35:02] Speaker B: She's as classic as the Don't Walk Boogie album. [00:35:06] Speaker A: Yeah, at least as classic as well. [00:35:08] Speaker B: And then Bill for you got something. I thought you vhs. It is. It is not. I now I wish it was good. I'm glad there's something in here. This is check before you bought it. No, you gotta do that. I was walking, I was thinking. I hope there's a DVD in there. [00:35:25] Speaker A: What is this? [00:35:26] Speaker B: This is all you fish that out of the track. All about boats and ships, cars, construction, fire engines, trucks, volume Two. The Ultimate Collection. [00:35:34] Speaker A: Is that a child's dvd? [00:35:38] Speaker B: No, it's for all ages. [00:35:40] Speaker A: Throw it over here. [00:35:42] Speaker B: Ready? [00:35:47] Speaker A: Okay. This is interesting. [00:35:49] Speaker B: Yeah, I think. I think you can get something out of it. [00:35:51] Speaker A: No, I don't think so. This is for kids. [00:35:52] Speaker B: Come on. [00:35:53] Speaker A: I don't want this. [00:35:54] Speaker C: Why all aboot Carol Burnett? Looks like my Auntie Pammy did. [00:35:59] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, yeah. [00:36:00] Speaker C: In the late. She's mannish, early 80s. [00:36:03] Speaker A: She's handsome. She's a handsome woman. If you say a woman is handsome, you're basically saying she looks like a dude. [00:36:10] Speaker B: Yeah, right. Yeah. That's not really a compliment. [00:36:13] Speaker A: I don't know no handsome woman. Who would you. Who would you say is a handsome woman? Renee Russo. [00:36:20] Speaker C: No, Renee was a fox. Handsome woman. [00:36:24] Speaker A: You're that Heather prattling on in here. [00:36:27] Speaker C: Handsome woman would be. Do you remember Kurt Warner's wife? Yes, she's handsome. [00:36:32] Speaker A: Yeah, she had a spiked hairdo and, [00:36:34] Speaker C: like, rock set, like in the similar. Handsome. [00:36:38] Speaker A: Yeah. Looks like a dude. Looks strong. How about Kelly McGillis? Handsome Kelly McGillis. [00:36:46] Speaker B: She's got Frenchie from Greece. [00:36:50] Speaker A: Oh, no, you're thinking of stalker Channing. Yes, Handsome, not Frenchie, but Riz. Riza. [00:36:56] Speaker B: Yes, that's the one. That's what I'm thinking of. [00:36:58] Speaker A: Yes. Yeah, yeah. [00:37:01] Speaker C: Handsome's a weird word to bandy around. [00:37:04] Speaker A: Let's not evaluate women here. It's not good. [00:37:07] Speaker C: I watched Greece 2 about three months ago. [00:37:11] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:37:12] Speaker C: Remember we had that convo about Ronnie Ray? [00:37:16] Speaker B: No, refresh me. [00:37:20] Speaker C: You said Ronnie Ray said it was his favorite. [00:37:22] Speaker B: Yeah, right, okay. [00:37:24] Speaker C: And I was like, yeah, I kind of revisits it. [00:37:26] Speaker A: Fuck is Ronnie Ray. [00:37:28] Speaker B: He's one of the comedians around here. Yeah, I watch. I'll watch Grease every. Every couple months. I own it on Amazon prime and I'll just pop it on. [00:37:35] Speaker A: Yeah, that's always a weird thing, to own something digitally on a fucking account. I own Halloween. [00:37:40] Speaker B: It's one of those things where, like, I think it was, like, during the pandemic, every once in a while I'd want to rent a movie, but then, like, for $3 more, you could own it. So it's like, okay, well, what if [00:37:48] Speaker A: Amazon goes out of business? [00:37:50] Speaker B: Yeah. You don't know any of them. I don't know. And this is before I was aware of the evils of Amazon. I bought all these movies, but I still own them and I watch them. [00:37:59] Speaker A: Well, I don't want anything digital. I like hard media. [00:38:02] Speaker B: I don't have a DVD player. [00:38:03] Speaker C: When you're digging around in crates, you think, why Am I gonna buy this when I know I'm gonna see it physically? [00:38:11] Speaker A: Huh? [00:38:13] Speaker C: Like, I would never buy Grease on Amazon because I think I'm gonna see that VHS or dvd. I am going to see that. [00:38:21] Speaker A: What do you mean, see that? You see the box? Yeah, yeah. You want to see? [00:38:24] Speaker C: I'm going to see it at the thrift store. [00:38:26] Speaker A: Oh, you're going to see it and go, $3, right? Or whatever you would pay to own it. Yeah. [00:38:31] Speaker C: Like one. One Christmas Day, I had to fucking rent A Christmas Story. And I was like, what am I doing? [00:38:38] Speaker B: Yeah, that's stupid. [00:38:40] Speaker A: Yeah. Like, my son, last night, I always wake up in the morning to a charge from Amazon. He rented the game, right? I have that on DVD somewhere in our piles of DVDs he's always renting. That's this generation. They're not into hard media like us. [00:38:56] Speaker B: I don't have a DVD player anymore. Or a VHS player. [00:38:59] Speaker A: Well, you need one, actually. [00:39:00] Speaker B: I know you're considering most of the [00:39:01] Speaker A: gifts that you're giving me. DVDs, DVDs. You have CDs? [00:39:05] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:39:06] Speaker A: Oh, my God. [00:39:07] Speaker B: Guess what happened. The Ace of Bass CD you gave me is now stuck in the car stereo, and it won't play. [00:39:14] Speaker A: Why? [00:39:15] Speaker B: Because. Out. [00:39:16] Speaker A: Because of the cd. It's. [00:39:17] Speaker B: I don't know. I don't know. I put it in. I was listening to it, and then, like, one time, I don't know, like, a week or two later, Borky had the car for a while, and I got in and I. I was like, oh, let's listen to a cd. She's like, oh, that CD that was in there is stuck in there. Won't come out. So, because of the bootleg? [00:39:32] Speaker A: Maybe. [00:39:33] Speaker B: I don't know. I haven't done anything about it. [00:39:35] Speaker C: Is it one of them CD players you can pop the front off? [00:39:37] Speaker B: No, it's. It's not like, an easy access. I'm gonna obviously take apart the Dashboard Ball. [00:39:42] Speaker A: Like, that's too bad. I'm sorry. I hope it wasn't Ace of Bass that did it. [00:39:47] Speaker C: Did you Google how to get a CD out of my. [00:39:50] Speaker B: No, I haven't worked on it at all. I haven't done anything about it. I just. I hit the eject button a whole bunch of times. It didn't work. [00:40:00] Speaker A: Sad, sad news. All right, what are we here for today? We done anything else? Any other. [00:40:09] Speaker C: No. [00:40:09] Speaker A: Sundry items? [00:40:11] Speaker C: No, we're. [00:40:12] Speaker B: We're doing Segura, right? [00:40:14] Speaker A: Tommy Segura? [00:40:15] Speaker B: Yeah, that's the. That's the one. [00:40:16] Speaker A: Tommy Segura. Mostly stories. 2016. We want to get into that. [00:40:20] Speaker B: Yeah, let's do it. Yeah, we're. We're definitely overdue for getting into it. [00:40:23] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. I would like to talk more about the movie 10 maybe for next week. Yeah, I'll have seen it again. [00:40:32] Speaker C: Huh? [00:40:35] Speaker A: Twang, maybe. [00:40:36] Speaker B: I have something like that here. [00:40:37] Speaker A: Swing. Swing. [00:40:41] Speaker C: That's not from 10, is it? [00:40:42] Speaker A: No, it's from Wayne's World, but. [00:40:43] Speaker C: Oh, yeah, [00:40:47] Speaker A: Tom Segura was my choice. I chose Tommy Segura because one of our listeners, Alex Cormos, I believe in dropping their names when. You know, I can. He listens every week. Loves the show. Loves you, Mark. Not so much you, Christian, but. No, I'm kidding. [00:41:05] Speaker B: Do you think it makes them feel important when you mention their name? [00:41:08] Speaker A: I don't know. I don't know. I just like to name. [00:41:10] Speaker B: I do. That's why I deserve it. [00:41:11] Speaker A: If they listen, they deserve it. We know they listen. We're happy to say the name. He said, I don't remember the context anymore because this is a while ago. He's like, have you guys done Tom Segura? You haven't done him? I was like, no, I don't think we did him. He's like, oh, you got some going on with him right now. [00:41:25] Speaker B: Oh, is there? [00:41:27] Speaker A: Well, I thought there was something scandalous. Me, too. [00:41:29] Speaker C: Just got divorced. [00:41:30] Speaker A: Yeah, it's just a divorce. Oh, it's just your run of the mill divorce. [00:41:33] Speaker C: Still friends in doing a podcast. [00:41:35] Speaker B: Yeah. Your mom's house, right? [00:41:38] Speaker C: Yeah, [00:41:40] Speaker A: that is. Yeah. He does us. [00:41:42] Speaker B: He. [00:41:43] Speaker A: He still does a podcast. Your mom's house. With, as you said, with his wife, who's also a comedian. Her name is Pat. Patricia. No, I don't remember something, anyway. No, no, there's no. There's no. Nothing. Salacious. I dug around. I actually did some research on Tom Segura. You want to hear some things? Yeah. [00:42:07] Speaker B: Did you find when he broke his arm? [00:42:09] Speaker A: No, no. [00:42:10] Speaker B: This is a whole mess. [00:42:12] Speaker A: Well. Well, you tell me about. [00:42:13] Speaker B: Yeah, I'll tell you after. [00:42:14] Speaker A: Okay. Tom Segura, 2.8 million followers on Instagram. [00:42:19] Speaker B: Is that a lot for somebody as big as Tom Segura that's been in the game for that long? [00:42:25] Speaker A: I don't know. Seems like a lot to me. [00:42:27] Speaker B: I mean, it is a lot, but, like, in relation to others, I don't know. [00:42:32] Speaker A: On my Instagram, I have only 63, but I'm private. [00:42:35] Speaker B: Yeah, private followers. [00:42:37] Speaker A: Born in 1979 at the age of 19, overdosed on ghd. [00:42:44] Speaker B: What's that? [00:42:46] Speaker A: Liquid ecstasy. [00:42:47] Speaker B: Oh, my God. [00:42:48] Speaker A: Yeah, I think they use it for. So I was talking to this guy this weekend, right? And he's on testosterone. You guys take testosterone? [00:42:55] Speaker C: No. [00:42:55] Speaker A: How about you? [00:42:56] Speaker C: No. [00:42:57] Speaker A: Thinking about it. [00:42:58] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:42:58] Speaker A: I mean, I don't like Frank Thomas pills or anything like that. [00:43:01] Speaker C: Nah. [00:43:02] Speaker A: Anyway, he takes testosterone, goes to the men's doctor, gets that. His. His number is 1400. [00:43:10] Speaker B: What? [00:43:12] Speaker A: Testosterone numbers, 1400. Mine's like 200. [00:43:15] Speaker C: Dick issues or he just likes to be aggressive? [00:43:17] Speaker A: Yeah, he says he does. He doesn't rage a little bit, but he says he gets tons of shit done. [00:43:21] Speaker B: He doesn't want to lose his youth. [00:43:23] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:43:24] Speaker B: Is he scared of getting old? [00:43:25] Speaker A: Yeah, he trimmed down as well. And he said, you know what? Like I says, like Adderall. He's like, nah, he's just like, you just get up and get shit done. [00:43:34] Speaker B: You can get shit done without testosterone. [00:43:38] Speaker A: But he said to counter his. The testosterone because the testosterone shrinks his balls. [00:43:45] Speaker B: Why would you want that? [00:43:46] Speaker A: Well, you don't want. [00:43:47] Speaker B: I guess you want this. Who cares, really? [00:43:49] Speaker A: When you take it synthetically or artificially, your body stops producing it, right? Right. Like the three of us, we're producing it, but probably at low levels, being middle aged and. Unless you're wrestling guys and like that. Yeah, you right. [00:44:04] Speaker B: No, I haven't wrestled a guy in a while. [00:44:07] Speaker A: Yeah, No, I haven't either. [00:44:09] Speaker B: Yeah, it's been a minute. [00:44:11] Speaker A: My son, I wrestled him. [00:44:12] Speaker B: Yeah, My cousin's coming to town. Maybe I'll wrestle him. [00:44:15] Speaker A: Yeah? Yeah. But he says he has to take. And I think I only made this connection now. Ghd. [00:44:22] Speaker B: Okay. Wait. [00:44:23] Speaker A: To counteract the small balls. [00:44:25] Speaker B: Is that the liquid existence? [00:44:27] Speaker A: I guess it's not. It's called liquid ecstasy, but I think it's taken for, like, medical purposes. For like, it's like an antidepressant or. [00:44:35] Speaker B: Yeah, they were doing that for, like, marriage counseling. They're giving people ecstasy. [00:44:39] Speaker A: Really? [00:44:39] Speaker C: Really? [00:44:40] Speaker A: Yeah. Wow. Wonder if my missus would like to jump on that. [00:44:45] Speaker B: Go meet the guy in the parking lot, buy a couple stamped pills. [00:44:50] Speaker C: You've got. You've got solid ecstasy, right? [00:44:54] Speaker A: Yeah, I got natural ecstasy right here. Pop on 10. [00:44:57] Speaker B: Yeah. And then that'll be the new number of your testosterone level. [00:45:03] Speaker A: I was never. As a child, I found her that attractive, though, I'll be honest, because I didn't like those, like, those braids. [00:45:09] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:45:10] Speaker A: Seems like she was culturally appropriating the Jamaicans or something. This take place in Jamaica? [00:45:16] Speaker C: No, it was. She's Swedish, right? [00:45:18] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:45:19] Speaker C: John Derek. [00:45:21] Speaker A: John Derek. Anyway, yeah, he had to take GHD to make his balls come back. [00:45:27] Speaker B: Weird. [00:45:27] Speaker A: So you're taking one thing, right? [00:45:29] Speaker C: To be like, see, that's why I want. I don't do medicine and pills. It's like a merry goat, Right? [00:45:35] Speaker A: Chasing your own tail with pills. [00:45:37] Speaker C: Right. [00:45:38] Speaker A: Yeah. Anyway, he owed. He OD'd on that. But he didn't die because he's still alive. [00:45:42] Speaker B: Yeah, he's still alive. He's still here. [00:45:43] Speaker A: He's got six specials. I think this was the second or third. And he's an. He's known as an insult comic. [00:45:51] Speaker B: Is he? [00:45:52] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:45:52] Speaker C: Huh. [00:45:53] Speaker A: He's also known for punching down on the poor. [00:45:56] Speaker B: Yeah, he does a lot of punching down. [00:45:57] Speaker A: Yeah. Insult comedy. Who else? Who comes to mind when you think of insult comedy? [00:46:05] Speaker B: Oh, what's his name? Ross. Jeff Ross. [00:46:08] Speaker A: Jeffrey Ross. [00:46:09] Speaker B: Sure. [00:46:10] Speaker A: Yeah. The Roast Master. Yeah. That's all I got. That's my research, but that's more research than I'd ever done on any community that I've chosen. [00:46:20] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:46:22] Speaker A: I'm stepping up my game here in season three. [00:46:24] Speaker B: Yeah, it paid off. Now we know about ghd. Yeah. At one time, I used to listen to his podcast. [00:46:30] Speaker A: I think I listened to Mom's House or Two Bears. And one. [00:46:34] Speaker B: I think. I think that was the one I listened to. I was into it for a little while, circa 2020ish. And, yeah, one time he was playing basketball, he went up to score a basket and he came down wrong and landed on his arm and snapped it in, like, four places. Yeah. I think he had to, like, cancel a tour and all sorts of stuff. It was a. It was a big deal. He had to get pins installed, have [00:46:59] Speaker A: a bunch of surgeries. [00:47:00] Speaker B: Oh, there's a video of it out there. Stands up and his arm just looks like it's going five different directions. [00:47:06] Speaker A: Broken arm is not usually a basketball injury. [00:47:08] Speaker B: Yeah, right. [00:47:09] Speaker A: One I've heard. [00:47:11] Speaker B: Yeah, he wasn't even doing that much either. He just fell in it. Weird. [00:47:15] Speaker A: Well, he's one of the guys that, if you like, when we started the show years ago, it was. I didn't know who any of these. These were just names that kind of all blended together. Nate Bargazzi, Bert Kreischer, Andrew Santino, Tom Segura, Shane Gillis. They were all the same guy to me. Now we're starting to flesh these four out, right? [00:47:37] Speaker C: Yeah. Well, they are all the same guy. [00:47:39] Speaker A: Yeah. It turns out they are all the same. When you flush them out, they're all kind of, you know. [00:47:44] Speaker C: Would you say Sugaru Is Maga on? [00:47:46] Speaker A: Yes. [00:47:47] Speaker C: Maga leaning. [00:47:48] Speaker B: Is he? [00:47:49] Speaker A: I don't know. I would lump him in that Maga umbrella Maga tent because he's with Kreischer. Him and Kreischer Kreis a Maga. Oh, yeah. [00:47:59] Speaker B: Okay. Yeah. [00:48:01] Speaker A: Well, they're all six degrees of Joe Rogan. Yeah. [00:48:03] Speaker B: Right. [00:48:04] Speaker A: What are you emptying your pockets over here? [00:48:05] Speaker C: No, I just found the podcast booth key that I had, so I know [00:48:10] Speaker A: nothing of his act. Did you? [00:48:13] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, I've seen this one before. Oh, you'd seen this one? And I really enjoyed it the first time. You did? Yeah. [00:48:17] Speaker A: When did you see it? [00:48:18] Speaker B: In 2016 when it came up. [00:48:20] Speaker A: Yeah. So you're. So you really don't belong on this program because you've been watching comedy. This is for. [00:48:26] Speaker B: You're right. Frozen, actually. [00:48:28] Speaker A: Caveman. What? [00:48:29] Speaker B: I'm out of here. [00:48:29] Speaker C: Kind of cheating. [00:48:30] Speaker A: Yeah. He knows. All the comedians were. We don't know. You didn't. Do you know about the Cigar fellow? [00:48:34] Speaker C: I mean, I've heard his name a million times, but it's funny because the. One of the ways I've heard his name is Mike Bridenstine, good friend of the show. I was always saying. People keep saying he is like him. [00:48:47] Speaker A: Bridenstein's like cigar. [00:48:48] Speaker C: Yeah. And he truly is. I mean, well, he looks kind of [00:48:52] Speaker A: like him with a beard. [00:48:54] Speaker C: Yeah. But Sagar in this mode. He does look like him with hair. Segura is a slap head now. So he looks like Brody Stevens actually. [00:49:02] Speaker A: Now Cigar does. [00:49:04] Speaker C: Yeah. Great. Brody Stevens. But at the time, I could see, like Brian Stein just said all the time, like in Sagira. Sagira scare. And if you watch Sagira's mannerisms and the way he delivers the punchline. Holy. This is exactly the same as Brian stuff. [00:49:21] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:49:22] Speaker C: So I know why he was getting similar material. They did not similar material. Yeah, they have a similar. Hmm. I don't really want to say too much because I'm about to slag Tom Segura off. [00:49:33] Speaker A: You're gonna slag him off a bad way. Meaning. [00:49:36] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:49:36] Speaker A: Okay, well, so go ahead and slag him off. There's no big reveal here. Get right into it. [00:49:40] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:49:40] Speaker A: Slag this fella off for his act or whatever. You're gonna. [00:49:43] Speaker C: So there's a. There's a sort of comedy that I hate. And Segura is. Is really plowing this for her. And it's this thing where I'll use the example. He goes. There's a net. There's a word for people who do. I Can't remember what it was. And then he pauses and he goes, they're sociopaths. Right. There's no joke to it. But he got a big laugh. [00:50:15] Speaker A: Wait, what? What? Did you follow any of that? What? [00:50:17] Speaker C: He. [00:50:18] Speaker B: I think I know what you're talking about. He. He does it again later on in the act when he says. Yeah, and I couldn't do that. Excuse me? I couldn't do that thing. Where is that? What is it? Say English words. You know, that, like, pause and then say the most obvious thing. [00:50:31] Speaker C: Yeah, and I detest that. [00:50:33] Speaker A: That pause and then. [00:50:35] Speaker B: Yeah, it's. It's an easy. [00:50:37] Speaker C: It's unique. [00:50:37] Speaker A: Notice that. Yes. [00:50:38] Speaker C: If he just said there's a word for people who. What? I can't remember what the thing is. There's a word for people who talk on flights. No, there's a word for people who talk on flights. Pause. They're sociopaths. Big laugh. Whereas if he just said people who talk on flights are sociopaths, you'd be fine with that? [00:51:01] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:51:02] Speaker A: It's the pregnant pause you don't like in the comedian story, the fact that it's getting laughed. [00:51:06] Speaker C: So you've brought nothing to this. [00:51:09] Speaker A: Who do we watch? I can't remember. [00:51:11] Speaker C: It's all over the place. Maybe I'm picking on cigar. [00:51:14] Speaker A: No, I, No, I, I, I notice that as well. And these kind of little. I don't know what you call. I don't say. I would call them idiosyncrasies or whatever, but, like, it's that. It's that mechanism. Maybe that was your word. Right. Like, there was that female comedian who we watched that blathered on, and she would say a joke and then start. It's almost Joan Riversey, that's who. Really? Did you say a joke and then you start the other one, but then stop. Right. Like. And that's why I don't need it. Big Max. I mean, come on. And then you start the next joke. [00:51:45] Speaker B: Right. [00:51:45] Speaker A: But you stop it. [00:51:46] Speaker C: Right. [00:51:46] Speaker A: Whatever. I, I get it. You don't like that. You think that's a crutch, or you just don't like that particular mechanism. [00:51:51] Speaker C: I just don't like that mechanism. [00:51:53] Speaker A: Okay. [00:51:54] Speaker C: Because I don't think it's bringing anything. [00:51:57] Speaker A: Think it's cheating in a way. [00:51:59] Speaker C: No, I. I mean, let's be completely fair. I'm the Dick, not Tom Segura. [00:52:07] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:52:07] Speaker C: My brain is saying, don't laugh at this. This is not bringing anything. The audience is laughing. He's got 2.5 million followers. And I Live in the comedy gutter. So I'm not trying to say, oh, you know, I'm just saying Mark Geary does not like this. [00:52:25] Speaker A: Mark here doesn't like this. How about Christian McCann? Does he like it? [00:52:30] Speaker B: I don't like the pause, and then that's just easy. It's too easy. I don't know. You said it's everywhere, but I don't know if it's everywhere now because this was 10 years ago, and people started doing it since then. [00:52:42] Speaker C: I think Segura is a. Is it what you call it? Like an arm? A Tastemaker Talisman. Yeah. He's the guy that invented this, right? [00:52:53] Speaker A: I don't know about that. [00:52:54] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:52:54] Speaker A: The pregnant Tom Segura didn't invent the pregnant boss. [00:52:57] Speaker C: Well, maybe he repopularized it, but he spawned a lot of people who were like, yeah, that's a thing. [00:53:05] Speaker B: Yeah. And so. And stuff like that is, for me, it's a. It's a dark spot on an otherwise enjoyable special. [00:53:11] Speaker A: Okay. [00:53:12] Speaker B: I like his comedy. I like his joke writing. I like his style. And then when he does something like that, it's kind of like, oh, come on, man. [00:53:19] Speaker C: Throughout my notes, you know how I like to do. I. I mention the bit, and then I make my comment on it. I've just got boilerplate. Boilerplate. Boilerplate. [00:53:29] Speaker B: What does that mean? [00:53:30] Speaker A: Boilerplate means. Yeah, it's just run of the mill. Yeah. What everybody does kind of, you know. [00:53:37] Speaker B: Do you think it was boilerplate at the time? [00:53:39] Speaker C: Probably not. Hey, you can hear my pouring. [00:53:42] Speaker A: That's cool. [00:53:42] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:53:42] Speaker A: Yeah, that's cool. [00:53:45] Speaker C: Probably not. I'm saying he probably popularized this. And. And now it's everywhere. Everywhere. 10 years ago. [00:53:55] Speaker A: So what was going on in 2016? [00:54:01] Speaker B: That was. Trump was just selected. [00:54:02] Speaker C: Yeah, Trump. [00:54:03] Speaker A: Trump won first. [00:54:04] Speaker B: First election. [00:54:05] Speaker C: Cubs win the series. [00:54:06] Speaker A: Yeah, that's right. [00:54:08] Speaker C: Cubs. [00:54:09] Speaker A: Trump. [00:54:11] Speaker B: I think I was living with John Becker, the ukulele player back then. [00:54:14] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:54:14] Speaker B: Over here in Logan Square before an apartment was $15,000 a month. [00:54:18] Speaker A: Jesus. [00:54:19] Speaker C: I think the original Lincoln Lodge show at the restaurant closed down in 2016. Did it? No, we left. We left. [00:54:30] Speaker A: You're at under the Gun. [00:54:31] Speaker C: We left Subterranean. [00:54:32] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. [00:54:36] Speaker C: That was a momentous event. [00:54:39] Speaker B: Pre. [00:54:39] Speaker A: Me, too. [00:54:41] Speaker B: Yeah. Just by a little bit. [00:54:42] Speaker C: Yeah, Me, too. Was 18. [00:54:45] Speaker B: 18. Yep. [00:54:45] Speaker C: Pre Covid, right? [00:54:47] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. Pre cover. Yeah. I gotta be honest here. You know, I've been. I've been burning the candle at both ends. Red assing it, as some would say. I put this on last night, knowing we had the show, and I Made it about halfway through and I was [00:55:06] Speaker B: like, it was a long one. [00:55:12] Speaker A: My notes are as bad as they've ever been. I did get the gist of it and meh. Yeah, I'm a meh on this. [00:55:23] Speaker B: You know, I realized, why watch while watching it. That there are two things he says in this special that I have thought about at least weekly, maybe a couple times a week in the last 10 years. And they are his. His line of like, I'm not suicidal or anything, but just like. Like I've seen everything, you know, like, how many. [00:55:44] Speaker A: That's good. [00:55:45] Speaker B: How many days are there? You know, like, come on. I think that all the time still, you know, like, it's 8 o' clock in the morning again. Here we go. You know, we're doing it again, like, and every day it's like, how many more times are we gonna do this? You know? That's a good bet. I've already seen everything I need to see. And the other one is when he's talking about melted cheese the first time you have melted cheese when you're a kid. I think about that every time I eat leftover pizza. You know, it's kind of like you just want to grab it out of the fridge, but you're like, but I could melt the cheese and it's so much better. [00:56:15] Speaker A: And he likened the melted cheese to Jack plating inside of a woman. Yeah. [00:56:20] Speaker C: Yeah. The funny thing is, I did write he has a. He shares a lot of same views as me and I find it strangely annoying. Yeah. Like the whole city name I wrote. My favorite bit obviously was the city names. [00:56:33] Speaker A: Where he's like, Paris, Tennessee. [00:56:34] Speaker C: Yeah, you can't call yourself. Because when I first come to America, I'm like, yeah, Manchester, you're from a. You're from a rip off town. [00:56:43] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm from Manchester by the sea. [00:56:45] Speaker C: Yeah. Which Manchester isn't even by the sea. We've been through that. [00:56:48] Speaker A: But what I'm from is. [00:56:50] Speaker C: But so, you know, I enjoy. Like I suddenly had this thing, I was like, wow, he's saying a lot of what I'm thinking, but I'm really not liking. [00:56:59] Speaker A: Yeah, you don't like him. And how can he be a slap head now? I'm. [00:57:04] Speaker C: He is now not in this special. [00:57:07] Speaker A: When I think slap head, I think of. Of you, obviously. And you're not bald. [00:57:12] Speaker C: You've. [00:57:12] Speaker A: You've got not a lot of hair on top. He's completely bald. That's. Is that anyone. Completely bald as a slap head? [00:57:20] Speaker C: Anyone with hair loss? [00:57:22] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:57:22] Speaker A: Okay. [00:57:23] Speaker B: If you can slap their head if it makes a noise. [00:57:25] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:57:26] Speaker A: Have you noticed more guys? Yeah. Well, showing up with hair that. That didn't have hair before I ran a party. [00:57:36] Speaker B: The Turkey thing. Yeah. [00:57:38] Speaker A: Well, the Erlacher thing. [00:57:40] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. I guess you can get it here, too. [00:57:42] Speaker A: I was at a party this weekend with a guy I hadn't seen in a couple years. Showed up and I. And he was formerly bald slap head. Right. Like, he had a. He had shaven down to, like, just stubble. And then he showed up with a full head of lettuce. Blonde lettuce hair. [00:57:58] Speaker B: Huh. [00:57:59] Speaker C: Did he ever. [00:57:59] Speaker A: I was like, what the fuck? I go. I go, blonde. When did you always have blonde hair? I forgot that he was even bald. Yeah, he had full blonde hair. [00:58:07] Speaker C: Did he have, like. Did it like a doll's head where you see the. [00:58:12] Speaker A: I didn't want to look too close. [00:58:13] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. [00:58:15] Speaker C: I've. I've toyed with the idea of. I would love to do this in. Sit, like, wear a wig and just brazen it out. [00:58:23] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:58:23] Speaker C: Just to see if anyone would like me. [00:58:25] Speaker B: See anything. [00:58:26] Speaker C: See you see if anyone. And just make it, like, living hell for the people around me who are like, should we say something to him? [00:58:34] Speaker B: Constantly combing it. Like that Seinfeld episode with George. [00:58:37] Speaker C: Well, I told you we talked to before about. You know, my nose has been broken since about the age of 13. I thought it would be fun. A lot of expense and to get a nose job, get my nose straightened out, and then go back to England and just see if anyone said shit to me. [00:58:54] Speaker A: They would. [00:58:56] Speaker C: I mean, my dad would have definitely said it, but he's long gone. [00:59:00] Speaker A: What do you mean? It's. It wouldn't be that different looking, right? I mean. [00:59:03] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. This is. I. For years, I wouldn't wear sunglasses because I was so conscious of having a bent nose. [00:59:09] Speaker A: I got one, too. [00:59:11] Speaker C: What? [00:59:12] Speaker A: Because I broke mine when I was 18 and 17 and took the. The brace off and it just went back sideways. [00:59:20] Speaker C: Really? [00:59:20] Speaker A: Yeah, I had it set, but then I didn't keep the brace on. [00:59:23] Speaker C: The second time I broke my nose, it went back the other way. [00:59:27] Speaker B: Huh? [00:59:27] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. [00:59:28] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:59:28] Speaker A: It looks straight. No, he's got. No, it's straight, but you got like a. [00:59:32] Speaker C: Like a knot. [00:59:33] Speaker A: A knot there. But that. You have to always have that. No, there's a loose bone in there. [00:59:37] Speaker C: Yeah, that's where the break was. [00:59:39] Speaker A: Nah, you don't do anything. I'd like to try Rogaine with you because you do have hair. If we could get the, the Rogaine going. You might feel. [00:59:47] Speaker C: Talking about shrivel balls. Forget about that. [00:59:50] Speaker A: You've tried it. [00:59:51] Speaker B: Rogaine give you shriveled balls? [00:59:53] Speaker A: It does. [00:59:53] Speaker C: I just assume everything you take gives you. [00:59:55] Speaker A: This is like a shampoo. I think we could get. Get you. [00:59:58] Speaker C: Nah. I bet Rogaine messes with your tackle. [01:00:03] Speaker B: Well, that's our Britishism for the day. [01:00:05] Speaker A: Your tackle. [01:00:06] Speaker C: Oh, you mean like three years time you can't even piss standing up. Forget about it. [01:00:12] Speaker A: Forget about it. [01:00:13] Speaker C: And I'd rather be a slap. I'd rather. I really would rather put a wig on and just. [01:00:18] Speaker B: Let's get you a wig. Let's do it. [01:00:20] Speaker C: Freak people out. [01:00:21] Speaker A: Be on the lookout. [01:00:22] Speaker B: Let's do that someday. That's what I'm bringing next. [01:00:24] Speaker C: And then, and then you go around and go, whatever you do, don't say anything. [01:00:28] Speaker A: No G's wig. [01:00:30] Speaker C: And people are just like crying through the pain of not going. You look stupid. [01:00:36] Speaker A: I. I did a similar. Well, similar experiment where I ate a sandwich with mayonnaise or whatever and I left the mayonnaise all over my face, knowing it was. See, who would say something? Nobody said anything. [01:00:47] Speaker B: Nobody said anything. [01:00:47] Speaker A: It's like, oh, [01:00:51] Speaker C: no, I often walk. You saw this the other day. When I'm doing something that requires tape. [01:00:56] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:00:57] Speaker C: I'll break pieces of tape off and then I'll put them like onto my. [01:01:01] Speaker A: See if anyone ever. [01:01:02] Speaker C: No, no, no. Because then, then they're there. [01:01:05] Speaker A: Oh. If you need them. [01:01:06] Speaker C: Yeah. So like let's say I'm doing something that requires a lot of tape. I'll put maybe 10 pieces of tape pre torn and I'll put them on thing. And maybe I'll only use three or four and I'll just walk around with tape all over from my chest for the day. No one ever says anything like, why do you have duct tape all over you, you knob end. [01:01:27] Speaker A: Somebody might if. If you were maybe a little snappier of a dresser. I don't mean it like you're not snappy, but, you know. [01:01:33] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:01:34] Speaker A: Look like you're always in the middle of a project anyway. [01:01:36] Speaker C: Yeah, probably. [01:01:39] Speaker A: All right, well, I think I know where this review is heading, but any final thoughts on Tom Segura, his act, his bits? I did like the Beef Strip club. Yeah, Strip club by the name of Beef. I thought his writing was pretty good. And I can't give it a proper evaluation because I did fall asleep, but I thought his act was pretty, pretty good. His material was pretty good. [01:02:03] Speaker C: He called it Stories. I was expecting it. To be a storytelling thing, but it was really stand up. [01:02:09] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:02:09] Speaker C: Apart from you missed Mike Tyson and Tommy Lee Jones stuff at the end, was that. That was. [01:02:15] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:02:16] Speaker A: Do some of his acts for me. [01:02:17] Speaker B: Sir. It's mostly stories though, you know? Yeah, mostly stories. Some stand up. [01:02:20] Speaker A: Well, I think that's the name of the special. Mostly stories. Yeah. What was it? Tommy Lee Jones. Give me the nut. The, the gist of it. [01:02:29] Speaker C: The gist of it is his dad. Him and his dad were watching a film one time and his dad turned to him and said, you do know Tommy Lee Jones is gay. So he took data, like face. So for 15 years he was telling everyone Tommy Lee Jones was gay. And then his friend said to him, I know Tommy Lee Jones. I know his wife and his kids. He has never been gay, he's never been bi, blah, blah, blah. So he calls his dad and says, why did you tell me Tommy Lee Jones is gay? And what is his dad? [01:02:59] Speaker A: I don't know. [01:03:00] Speaker B: He's like, I thought he was. [01:03:02] Speaker C: I thought he was. [01:03:02] Speaker B: Who told you that? He goes, I don't. I can't remember. [01:03:06] Speaker A: Was gay in jfk. [01:03:07] Speaker B: He said, you've been, you've been walking around telling people that for 15 years. Yeah. [01:03:12] Speaker A: Himself about his dad's pretty funny. [01:03:13] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:03:13] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:03:14] Speaker B: I like the voice he does. [01:03:15] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:03:16] Speaker B: For the dad and for the, for the guy at the movie theater. [01:03:18] Speaker C: And then he had a really long story about meeting Mike Tyson on a flight. [01:03:21] Speaker B: Yeah. I wonder if that really happened. [01:03:25] Speaker C: I would think so. [01:03:26] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:03:26] Speaker A: Put that seems like it. [01:03:28] Speaker B: I wonder if they're still friends to this day. We can look that up in a research for next week. [01:03:34] Speaker A: Well, I don't. I didn't come across that. But the last little bit of research I found was I was on Reddit looking, you know, digging up dirt on him and said a lot of his fans have turned on him because he's acts like he's too good for everyone now. [01:03:50] Speaker C: Huh. [01:03:51] Speaker A: And maybe he is. He acts like he started out poor. Him and his wife, they didn't have any money, but he grew up a rich kid. His. His dad was a stockbroker for Merrill Lynch. He went to some highfalutin school and he doesn't like poor people. He punches down on them. So there you go. Tom Segura in a nutshell. Love him, hate him. Indifferent. I'll give my review. Meh. Yeah. [01:04:17] Speaker B: How many. What are we doing? What's our rating system this week? [01:04:21] Speaker A: How many beefs, farts? How many. Pulling outs? I don't know. [01:04:32] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. How many fractures on the arm? [01:04:36] Speaker A: Okay. [01:04:36] Speaker B: In the arm. In, on. Around. Out of five. I'm gonna go a solid 3.5. [01:04:44] Speaker A: 3.5? [01:04:45] Speaker B: You like 3.5? Yeah, I do. I love. [01:04:47] Speaker A: Fan. You're a fan. Well, I'm interested in yours because you. You have personally. Personal animus towards him. But not personal. But you have. You don't like him. We've already said that. But what do you think of this special rating? This. We're always rating the special, not the man. [01:05:01] Speaker C: Yeah. Yeah. Now I'm doing a quick scan of my notes. I realized I didn't hate it as much as I thought I did. I think it was just that one. [01:05:11] Speaker A: That part. [01:05:12] Speaker C: That mechanism really irritates me. I'd like to say it irritates me that people laugh at it as well. I watch a show in the Lincoln Lodge and someone will use that mechanism, and I'll just be sitting in the sound booth fuming, like. You're bringing nothing. [01:05:27] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:05:28] Speaker C: You're bringing nothing. [01:05:29] Speaker A: Some people like that. They like that pause. [01:05:32] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:05:33] Speaker A: And then the joke. Yeah, [01:05:37] Speaker C: I'm just gonna go with three. [01:05:40] Speaker A: Yeah, I'll give it. I'll give it two and a half, but. Two and a half. Whatever. Broken arms, beefs. I would like to see him now, though, especially based on what I read about how he's changed. His fans seem to think he's really changed. Become more of a shithead asshole with fame. [01:05:56] Speaker C: Really? [01:05:56] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:05:57] Speaker C: He put out that. He did put out that thing on Netflix. It looks interesting. The Bat stories about bad people or what's it called? [01:06:05] Speaker B: I don't know. I haven't seen anything about this on Netflix. [01:06:08] Speaker A: He's got a show. It's called.
