Show Notes

Our second episode of Season 3 starts with discussions of how to fix a record player, how to make homemade cocktail cherries and a celebration of our burgeoning international fan base. All this and less before knuckling down to a review of another Chicago alumni comedian with the 2025 special Night Owl by Liza Treyger. You can catch the special on Netflix: Night Owl. You should watch it before listening to the review.

Theme music: El Cha Cha Man by Juanitos. Juanitos, led by Juan Naveira, is the single French rock'n'roll and soul band mixing latin soul, exotica, acid jazz, punk, vocal pop and sometimes reggae roots in the Jackie Mittoo style. They are very good.

[00:00:16] Speaker A: I forgot. Are we. Are we still pretending to only record once a week? Yes. [00:00:20] Speaker B: We were never pretending. [00:00:22] Speaker A: Well, he wanted to. [00:00:24] Speaker C: I don't know. I'm confused by the whole thing. I don't know why we're doing this. Although I'm. I'm glad we're doing this this week because, as you know, I will be out on summer hiatus starting next week. [00:00:35] Speaker B: Oh, really? [00:00:36] Speaker A: You look like you already are. [00:00:38] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:00:38] Speaker A: Half asleep. Your eyes are like piss holes in the snow. [00:00:41] Speaker C: Really? [00:00:42] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:00:42] Speaker B: How many Toke Cosmic Berries did you have on your way here? [00:00:45] Speaker C: What? [00:00:45] Speaker B: How many Toke Cosmic Berries? [00:00:47] Speaker C: What does that mean? [00:00:48] Speaker B: The thc. [00:00:49] Speaker C: Oh, Willys. Yeah. [00:00:51] Speaker B: No, not Willys. Thc. In the can. [00:00:53] Speaker C: I don't have any thc. I don't touch that stuff. [00:00:56] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:00:56] Speaker A: Why do you look like six sacks of, then? [00:00:58] Speaker C: I do Explain that I look like six sacks of. [00:01:01] Speaker B: Yeah, explain to you. [00:01:03] Speaker C: Damn, I didn't think I looked that bad. [00:01:04] Speaker A: You got elastic bands around your wrist. Yeah. [00:01:08] Speaker C: Pick them up off the ground. [00:01:08] Speaker A: Heroin tying off. [00:01:11] Speaker B: Did you. [00:01:12] Speaker C: I thought it looked rather. [00:01:13] Speaker B: Well, how many heroines in a can did you have? [00:01:15] Speaker C: Anyway, that'll be next. Heroin in a can. [00:01:19] Speaker A: Quit heroin. [00:01:20] Speaker C: You'll find a loophole for heroin in a can. Heroin beverage. Well, thank you. Thank you for saying I look so awful. I. I actually. [00:01:29] Speaker A: Christian says it as well. [00:01:30] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:01:30] Speaker C: Why do I look awful? [00:01:31] Speaker B: Unanimous. [00:01:32] Speaker A: Bullying. [00:01:33] Speaker C: What. What exactly is. Is it because I want to know. [00:01:35] Speaker A: You look half asleep, unshaved. [00:01:38] Speaker C: Okay. [00:01:38] Speaker A: Okay. Normally, you. You come in with some sort of pretension to a Look, whether it's retro 80s or, you know, retired beat boy. Whatever it is today, it's like there's no effort. [00:01:51] Speaker C: Retired beat boy. What's that? A rapper? [00:01:53] Speaker A: B Boy. [00:01:53] Speaker C: Yeah, B Boy. [00:01:55] Speaker A: Now, there's just no effort, really. [00:01:57] Speaker C: I don't know. This kind of a. My socks and shorts match. That's kind of a look. And it matches my T shirt. [00:02:04] Speaker A: DePaul Blue Demons. [00:02:05] Speaker C: Yeah. You know, I love DePaul. I just re upped up my season tickets for next year. [00:02:09] Speaker B: Hey, basketball. [00:02:10] Speaker C: Yep. [00:02:11] Speaker B: Yeah, they're pretty popular, Right? [00:02:14] Speaker C: No, What's. [00:02:15] Speaker B: Oh, that's Loyola I'm thinking about. Right. [00:02:16] Speaker C: I don't know. [00:02:17] Speaker B: Who's the. Who's the team with the. The old lady. That's a nun that likes. [00:02:20] Speaker C: That's. [00:02:20] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:02:21] Speaker C: Sister Jean. She went down for the dirt nap last year. [00:02:24] Speaker B: Oh, that's right. She did. She passed, didn't she? [00:02:26] Speaker A: Maybe You. You. Since you like watching young men run around. It could be the new sister gene. [00:02:32] Speaker B: You're just getting it from all angles today. [00:02:34] Speaker C: Yeah, I'm really getting the business in here. This is what happens when. [00:02:37] Speaker B: Glad you showed up. [00:02:38] Speaker C: And see each other for two weeks. It builds up. [00:02:40] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:02:40] Speaker B: That's why we do this every two weeks. [00:02:42] Speaker C: So what? Why are we doing this every two weeks? [00:02:44] Speaker B: It started because it was nice to have a Wednesday to get stuff done. [00:02:50] Speaker C: Well, what's up with you? Do you have any gainful employment to speak of that's going to affect the schedule? [00:02:54] Speaker A: No, I keep putting it off. Putting it off. [00:02:57] Speaker C: Okay. Well, you're well to do. You can afford to do that, I guess. Well, after summer hiatus, I got two weeks of camp to run starting next week. [00:03:07] Speaker B: Well, how long is your summer hiatus? [00:03:08] Speaker C: It's just two weeks of camp. Right. So it will not be available. [00:03:13] Speaker B: Oh, so these. These are not. In addition to. These are concurrent. [00:03:16] Speaker C: Yeah, these are back two in a row. Two in a row. Yeah. You want to come down, put us [00:03:20] Speaker A: in a bind then? Because we'll. We'll. We'd be missing an EP there. [00:03:24] Speaker B: Mark and I can finally do our Lost podcast. [00:03:26] Speaker C: Yeah, why don't you do the Lost episodes? You know, something. And then. But when we start back the. The following week, my. My teaching schedule is going to require that we record on a different day, I think, or earlier in the morning. I've got a one o' clock class to teach. [00:03:44] Speaker B: I could do earlier. [00:03:45] Speaker C: Okay. [00:03:45] Speaker B: I'd prefer to do earlier. [00:03:46] Speaker C: Okay. Yeah. Yeah. You have to wait till lunchtime. [00:03:49] Speaker B: Yeah, right. [00:03:50] Speaker A: That gives him a hard stop. Winner, winner. [00:03:53] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. [00:03:53] Speaker C: Chicken dinner gives me a hard stop. Meaning like I like to. [00:03:56] Speaker A: Yeah. Just not rambling on. [00:03:57] Speaker C: Yeah. I love it here. I never want to leave. It's my favorite thing. [00:04:03] Speaker A: Looks like you slept here. [00:04:09] Speaker C: Well, I've got a. I've got a rock and roll haircut. That's maybe what's thrown. [00:04:13] Speaker B: It is. That's a fresh haircut. [00:04:15] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:04:16] Speaker B: By fresh I mean it both ways. [00:04:17] Speaker A: How do you like your rock and roll hairstyle? [00:04:21] Speaker B: I don't know. [00:04:22] Speaker A: Do you remember that song? [00:04:23] Speaker B: I don't. [00:04:23] Speaker A: Cake. [00:04:24] Speaker B: Cake. Oh, I like cake. [00:04:26] Speaker C: You love cake. Aren't they the ones that saying. [00:04:28] Speaker A: I know. [00:04:32] Speaker C: Oh, that's blur. [00:04:33] Speaker A: Yeah, Cake did. He's going the distance now. [00:04:36] Speaker B: They suck. Fashion Nugget is one of the best albums ever recorded. [00:04:41] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:04:42] Speaker B: Yep. [00:04:42] Speaker C: Well, are we. We want to do some gifts music. [00:04:45] Speaker A: No, I didn't do gifts. [00:04:46] Speaker C: Well, you don't have to. What is this on the table? [00:04:49] Speaker B: Here. [00:04:49] Speaker C: This. [00:04:49] Speaker A: That was. That was gifts to Kelsey. [00:04:52] Speaker B: Yeah, Yesterday. Gifts. [00:04:54] Speaker C: Is that some kind of cutting machine? [00:04:56] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:04:58] Speaker C: Okay. All right, say no more. [00:05:01] Speaker A: Spare as the cut off. [00:05:02] Speaker C: Well, here's what I got you this week, Mark. I got you. I know you're a big fan of Lubega. A little bit of Mambo. Hey, Mambo number five. [00:05:14] Speaker A: Little bit of Lubega's asshole. [00:05:16] Speaker C: Yes. A little bit of Lubega. Now, why. What is the deal here with the. [00:05:21] Speaker A: We've been through this. You once went on stage and talked for five minutes about Lou Vegas and what you would. What you'd like to do with it. I don't know, various things. [00:05:34] Speaker C: I don't recall that. [00:05:35] Speaker A: I wish I should have recorded all those. [00:05:37] Speaker B: Play it like a Trumpet. [00:05:38] Speaker C: A little bit of Monica on my mind. A little bit of Rita on my mind. A little bit of Sally. [00:05:46] Speaker A: My mind. [00:05:48] Speaker C: Yeah, that's the. [00:05:49] Speaker A: That's a little bit of Mambo. And all the hits. [00:05:52] Speaker C: And all the hits. [00:05:53] Speaker B: All the hits. [00:05:53] Speaker C: First pressing Mambos 1 through 5, seminal album. And for you, sir, over here, Chris. Now, you like it when I call you Chris? [00:06:05] Speaker B: I love that so much. [00:06:07] Speaker C: I know how much you've mentioned on the show. [00:06:09] Speaker B: You. [00:06:09] Speaker C: You're a big fan of Daniel Tosh DVDs. [00:06:11] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. [00:06:12] Speaker C: Happy thoughts. Daniel Tosh on DVD. Brand new in the rapper. Never been used. Like some of the stuff you give me. It's brand new. [00:06:19] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:06:22] Speaker A: Next week. [00:06:23] Speaker C: Hey. Oh, and I don't want that back. Tosh. Maybe we ought to take a look [00:06:26] Speaker B: at Josh before I go and pick up that dvd. Don't worry about it. [00:06:31] Speaker C: You got a gift? [00:06:33] Speaker B: Yeah, I've got gifts. [00:06:33] Speaker A: Oh, come on. [00:06:34] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:06:35] Speaker C: Oh, you feel bad because you didn't bring gifts? [00:06:36] Speaker A: No, I don't feel bad. [00:06:37] Speaker C: Oh, let the listeners know. They also brought in a tub of Andy's chocolates. Yeah. [00:06:41] Speaker B: For Mark, I have the Age of Grievance by Frank Bruni. So you can. It will help him better understand today's youth. [00:06:49] Speaker C: Frank Bruni, the writer from the New York Times? [00:06:51] Speaker B: That's right. [00:06:52] Speaker C: Have you read this book? [00:06:53] Speaker B: No. [00:06:54] Speaker C: Where did you procure it? [00:06:57] Speaker B: The Internet. [00:06:58] Speaker C: Okay, what's it called again? [00:06:59] Speaker B: The Age of Grievance. I saw him being interviewed on WGN one day and I ordered the book and two showed up. [00:07:08] Speaker C: Oh, yeah, two for one. But this one has no dust jacket on. [00:07:11] Speaker B: Yeah, I don't know what happened to it. And I was gonna give him the one with the dust jack, but it had, like, a coffee stain on it, so. [00:07:16] Speaker C: And this is damaged on the spine? Is it at the top? Something's off about this story he's selling. [00:07:22] Speaker B: I'm not selling a story. [00:07:23] Speaker C: We found that in the alley. [00:07:24] Speaker B: I'm giving away a book I got for free. [00:07:25] Speaker A: You know, when they remain the books, they tear the COVID off. So sometimes, occasionally. [00:07:30] Speaker C: Oh, did you order from, like, a thrift book or something like that? [00:07:32] Speaker B: No, I ordered from the guy's website. [00:07:34] Speaker A: No, no. When they remainder them. [00:07:36] Speaker C: What's that mean? [00:07:36] Speaker A: It means when they ditch them, they tear the covers off. So you can't really sell them if someone decides to knock them off, you know? [00:07:43] Speaker C: But he said he bought it from Frank Bruni's website. [00:07:46] Speaker A: Yeah. So it's not dodgy stories. [00:07:49] Speaker B: Fishy. Okay, well, for you, I have either me. Yep. The Beach Boys today. [00:07:54] Speaker C: Okay, let me guess. Beach Boys today. [00:07:57] Speaker B: Or. [00:07:57] Speaker C: And you saw that I've been listening to that Joe Walsh album. [00:07:59] Speaker B: Huh. Or is the other one what you think it is? [00:08:01] Speaker C: Or I know John Takeout because I've [00:08:04] Speaker B: done this bit so many times. [00:08:05] Speaker C: It is John Paycheck. [00:08:06] Speaker B: Well, you already saw it. Or Johnny Paycheck. Mr. Lovemaker. [00:08:10] Speaker C: Give me that fucking Johnny. Well, should I take the Johnny Paycheck, [00:08:13] Speaker A: then You kind of ruin the running gag. [00:08:15] Speaker C: Yeah, they put an end to his bet. [00:08:17] Speaker B: Hey, it's a. It's your choice. [00:08:19] Speaker C: I want Johnny Paycheck. [00:08:21] Speaker B: Johnny Paycheck. [00:08:22] Speaker C: No one at home wants to hear this bet anymore. [00:08:25] Speaker B: Give me that one at home. Heard this bit to begin with. [00:08:28] Speaker A: I have. [00:08:28] Speaker C: Take this job and shove it. Is this the same? [00:08:30] Speaker A: No, we said that. Yeah, this is the. Not the Shove it. [00:08:33] Speaker C: Yeah, this is in decent shape. [00:08:35] Speaker B: That's his. That's his. Good stuff. I got that straight from his website. [00:08:39] Speaker C: Yeah, like the Frank Bruni. It's a little scratched up there, friend. [00:08:43] Speaker B: Well, playing the website, they appreciate your feedback. [00:08:47] Speaker A: It was the seventies. [00:08:48] Speaker C: Hey, do you. You're an audiophile? Yeah. You're our sound engineer. I hope you know something. [00:08:54] Speaker B: I like sound. Yes. [00:08:56] Speaker C: So here's a. Here's a problem I'm having with my record player, and I've brought it to these old timers over. [00:09:01] Speaker A: It speeds up, slows down. [00:09:03] Speaker C: No, sometimes it won't come through the left speaker. Right. But if I, like, bump it or, like, jiggle it a little bit, it'll come back in through the left speaker. What. What is that? [00:09:15] Speaker B: There's just a contact loose. [00:09:17] Speaker C: There's a contact loose Where? [00:09:18] Speaker B: It could be a bunch of different places. You just follow the line. [00:09:22] Speaker A: What are you bumping, the record player or the. The Amplifier. [00:09:25] Speaker C: The record player. [00:09:27] Speaker B: Is your amplifier included inside your record player? [00:09:30] Speaker C: No. [00:09:30] Speaker B: Okay, so you bump the record player. So it's probably the outputs coming out of the back. [00:09:34] Speaker C: I feel like it's the needle. No. [00:09:37] Speaker B: It could be a dirty needle. [00:09:38] Speaker A: No, because the needle isn't stereo. The needle's just reading bumps. [00:09:41] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:09:42] Speaker B: It's just conveying the information. [00:09:43] Speaker C: Here's the other thing. Right. That if I put it on mono, never, never fails. Comes through both speakers all the time. But if I take it off mono and it's in stereo, it's in and out on one of the speakers. And I brought into these old timers at Saturday Audio Exchange, and they fucking didn't know what it was. Sounds fine to me. They didn't hear it. [00:10:02] Speaker B: Yeah, well, maybe it wasn't doing it at the time. Yeah. It's just. I'd say it's the contacts. Is it RCA's that are coming out the back? Is it a red and white? [00:10:12] Speaker C: The contacts at the bottom of the amp? [00:10:14] Speaker B: The contact from your record player between the record player and the speakers somewhere. [00:10:20] Speaker C: Okay. [00:10:21] Speaker A: All right. [00:10:21] Speaker C: This is. [00:10:22] Speaker B: Take the Deltronics. [00:10:24] Speaker C: They're better. [00:10:24] Speaker B: They'll do it. Yeah. [00:10:25] Speaker C: I'm starving. [00:10:26] Speaker B: Deltronics over on Elston Avenue. [00:10:29] Speaker C: Oh, I threw that other one in there, I think. [00:10:31] Speaker B: I don't know where they are, but, yeah, Deltronics is a great. [00:10:35] Speaker C: All right. That Deltronics is our sponsor this week. [00:10:37] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:10:37] Speaker C: On Elson Avenue. [00:10:38] Speaker B: On Elston Avenue, east of Audio. [00:10:43] Speaker C: All right. As you start to power down these Andes chocolates that are sitting right in front of you in a generous sized tub, tell us how the weight loss. Oh, no. [00:10:55] Speaker A: Hit a wall. [00:10:56] Speaker C: Meaning you're no longer losing weight. [00:10:59] Speaker A: I came out of the gate so fast. [00:11:01] Speaker C: Yeah. And then rapid weight loss. [00:11:03] Speaker A: And I just think my body is now, like, whoa. You know what I mean? Like, hang on, hang on here. I think I'm gonna suddenly take off again. [00:11:12] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:11:13] Speaker A: Because I'm holding pretty firm. Holding pretty firm. But, like, I did a trip to Milwaukee this week. That's some kielbasa cats have Culver's because that's what, you know, was picked for me and didn't feel good. [00:11:27] Speaker C: But otherwise you've been doing well in terms of very disciplined. And only one hot dog a day and all that. [00:11:34] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:11:36] Speaker C: One from Juul a day. [00:11:37] Speaker A: Yeah. No, no, I've been doing well. I have been disciplined. [00:11:40] Speaker C: So you're doing well. Your habits are good, but you're. You're not seeing the results. [00:11:46] Speaker A: Yeah. Walled it. [00:11:47] Speaker C: Maybe you need more anaerobic exercise or aerobic. [00:11:53] Speaker A: I mean, the point is, is to lose the 40 pounds to then get in the gym. [00:11:58] Speaker C: Oh, you're gonna lose 40 pounds, then get in the gym, start toning up [00:12:01] Speaker A: and then start the real work. [00:12:05] Speaker C: Might we ask where you are on the. The 40 point scale? How close are you? Halfway there. How many? [00:12:12] Speaker A: Oh, a third. [00:12:13] Speaker C: You're a third. What is that? [00:12:15] Speaker A: But I got to a third very rapidly. [00:12:18] Speaker C: 13. [00:12:18] Speaker B: 13.3. [00:12:19] Speaker C: You're hanging right at about 13 stone. Is that a stone? One stone. [00:12:22] Speaker A: About one stone. [00:12:23] Speaker C: He's one stone down. [00:12:24] Speaker B: One stone. Two more stones. [00:12:26] Speaker C: Two more stone to go. [00:12:27] Speaker A: What I'm hoping is. I told you that guy told me one time. Because the body takes fat in chunks. It just. It goes. All right, let's burn this. We need this. [00:12:39] Speaker C: It's not going to. Just do it. So this is. This is expected. What's happening? This plateau. Okay. [00:12:47] Speaker B: Just getting that next bag of coal ready to burn now. [00:12:49] Speaker C: Why not just, you know, choke down some ozempic? [00:12:53] Speaker A: Someone said that at a thing last night. [00:12:55] Speaker B: That's a weak person's way out. [00:12:56] Speaker C: Easy. Some of our listeners may be on the ozempic. [00:12:59] Speaker B: Yeah. Well, now they know what I think, not offend them. [00:13:01] Speaker A: Yeah. I want to be able to piss standing up in five years time because that's gonna. What's gonna happen to all these ozempics? [00:13:09] Speaker B: They're not gonna be able to stand laying down. [00:13:11] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:13:12] Speaker C: Why? What do you think's gonna happen? [00:13:14] Speaker A: I don't know. I think, you know, it's something. [00:13:18] Speaker C: Yeah, something we don't know. [00:13:19] Speaker A: Something's gonna happen. [00:13:20] Speaker C: Like thalidomide. [00:13:21] Speaker A: Yeah, exactly. [00:13:22] Speaker C: Yeah. Flipper babies or something. [00:13:23] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:13:24] Speaker B: Hopefully not three rows of teeth. [00:13:26] Speaker C: Oh, the cat. [00:13:28] Speaker B: The cat scream. [00:13:30] Speaker A: Maybe there are souls start falling out. Scary. [00:13:33] Speaker C: Loosening up. Yeah. [00:13:36] Speaker A: Prolapse. [00:13:37] Speaker B: Maybe their enlarge and engulf them and they just become a giant. [00:13:43] Speaker C: I hope not for them. [00:13:45] Speaker A: No. It's not nature's way, is it? [00:13:47] Speaker C: It doesn't seem like it because they got it out of a. You go too deep down this hole. But I think they got whatever Wegovy. The medicine is like out of a reptile. Some kind of reptile that goes long stretches without eating. And they identified that. That chemical in their body and then they. That's what's going in your body to suppress your appetite. That doesn't seem natural. [00:14:11] Speaker A: That's not. [00:14:13] Speaker C: Is that me? Huh? [00:14:15] Speaker B: Did you cough? [00:14:16] Speaker C: No, I didn't. [00:14:17] Speaker B: Oh. [00:14:18] Speaker A: That's not what all the. You know, I mean, let's not fix all the Unhappiness and abundance causing this? [00:14:24] Speaker C: No. Right. I thought of a poor man's Ozempic for people that can't afford. Because the pills. I hear not every insurance covers them. And if you're paying out of pocket, forget it. [00:14:35] Speaker B: Are you gonna tell me they're expensive? [00:14:37] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:14:37] Speaker B: What? [00:14:38] Speaker C: Yeah, they're expensive. A pharmacy right now, I guess. Yeah. Believe it or not, these the prices. [00:14:43] Speaker B: Well, that's a first. Now I've heard it all. [00:14:46] Speaker C: Yeah. So here's. Here's my poor man's Ozempic you carry in a Ziploc bag around with you dog shit. And every time you're hungry, you open the bag of dog shit and you take a big, big whiff and close it up. And then you won't want to eat. And you do that enough times, it will. Every time you get hungry, you feel a hunger pang. You'll smell dog shit and not want to eat. It's the same thing, right? I thought that would get a laugh. Well, that bombed. [00:15:18] Speaker A: Well, I'm just thinking about it. [00:15:19] Speaker C: It's not a bad idea. [00:15:20] Speaker B: Right. [00:15:20] Speaker A: I was thinking of a funny, legitimate [00:15:22] Speaker C: bag of dog shit. [00:15:23] Speaker A: I was thinking of something funny to say to it, like, and you'll have no friends left. And I was like, yes, this. What, this is dead end, the whole dog shit. [00:15:30] Speaker B: I'm trying not to snack anymore. Last night I put a stool with a motorcycle helmet on top of it in front of my refrigerator, thinking that that would stop me from opening it and. [00:15:39] Speaker C: Oh, like cuz it would fall if you opened it. [00:15:41] Speaker B: Yeah, right. I just slid the fridge right open, it didn't matter. [00:15:45] Speaker C: And balance it on top. [00:15:46] Speaker B: It just. [00:15:47] Speaker A: Yeah, snacking's a bastard. [00:15:49] Speaker B: Yeah, I know. That's. That's what gets. That's what gets me. [00:15:52] Speaker C: Yeah, snacking. Chips, crisps. [00:15:54] Speaker B: I can't even keep them in the house. Forget it. Yeah, I learned that a long time ago. Don't even buy them. [00:15:59] Speaker C: Yeah, they won't last. Well, one listener writes in on the chat room chat board. I feel like Mark's mood has improved now that he doesn't eat all day. It's funny how that works. [00:16:10] Speaker B: It just carries it around. [00:16:11] Speaker C: Listeners are noticing an uptick in your mood since you've been on this journey. Do you feel like you're in better spirits? Happier now that as the listener says, you don't eat all day like you used to? [00:16:28] Speaker A: I didn't. I mean, I really want to go down this path. I did not eat shit all day. Not in a literal sense anyway. [00:16:36] Speaker C: Maybe 80 episodes that say otherwise, but metaphysical sense. [00:16:40] Speaker A: Yeah. But no, I think I feel better because of the bicycling. For sure. [00:16:46] Speaker C: Still doing that. [00:16:47] Speaker A: Yeah. Bicycling feels like cheating fate. [00:16:50] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:16:53] Speaker C: Because you're. You think every time you get on it, you're gonna get hit by a car. [00:16:56] Speaker A: No, because you're going past these cars and you're thinking, ah, look at you. You were me. [00:17:03] Speaker C: Oh. [00:17:04] Speaker A: Like every. Every journey to the Lincoln Lodge is 10 minutes absolutely on every time. And no parking hassle. [00:17:14] Speaker C: Yep. [00:17:15] Speaker A: It feels my. At the age I'm at. [00:17:18] Speaker C: What age is that? You don't want to say. [00:17:21] Speaker A: Your life is a series of disappointments, and to just get. [00:17:27] Speaker B: That's your book that you're gonna. [00:17:28] Speaker C: Life is a Series of disappointments. That's a book by Mark Erie. [00:17:32] Speaker A: I'm gonna set up a rival website to [00:17:36] Speaker B: the Age of grievance. [00:17:37] Speaker C: No. To I have a full life. [00:17:39] Speaker A: To full life. I have a full life of disappointments. Will be there. Which should be the website. And just a little win. Just that little win. Every now and again of riding past [00:17:52] Speaker C: people in cars and feeling better than [00:17:54] Speaker A: them, not better than them, but like, hey, that could have been me. They. They lost. I won. [00:18:00] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:18:01] Speaker A: In this scenario, it's amazing. It's like the tinning, you know, the ghost sending you the canning of the cherries. [00:18:07] Speaker B: Yeah. Right. [00:18:08] Speaker A: So cocktail cherries are horrendous price, right? [00:18:13] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:18:14] Speaker B: Not the maraschino ones like the good ones. [00:18:16] Speaker C: Good ones with the stem. [00:18:17] Speaker B: With the stem. Doesn't matter. Yeah. But like the Luxardo look, you know, [00:18:22] Speaker A: you get these assholes. Yeah. These assholes that come along. I want to look like James Bond walking around with my. [00:18:27] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:18:28] Speaker C: Drink. Oh, they want a nice. [00:18:29] Speaker A: Yeah, they want a nice cherry. Nice dark red one with a stem on. [00:18:34] Speaker B: Right. [00:18:34] Speaker A: And they cost a bleeding fortune. [00:18:37] Speaker C: Well, how much for a small jar? [00:18:39] Speaker B: Even more than ozempics. [00:18:40] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. We should put ozempics in, I think. [00:18:44] Speaker B: Right? [00:18:44] Speaker C: How much is a small jar? Are you saying so expensive? I don't. $5. [00:18:49] Speaker A: No, no. [00:18:50] Speaker B: A small jar is like $12. [00:18:51] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. And so what I took to doing is I'm like, screw this. Let's. Let's get canning. Right. [00:18:58] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:18:58] Speaker C: Start canning your own cherries. [00:18:59] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. And even, like, a bag of cherries, a jewel is like nine bucks a pop. Like, on. Without the U. Savings or whatever. [00:19:10] Speaker C: The box in a bag of, like, Michigan cherries or whatever. [00:19:13] Speaker A: Yeah. Horrendous. So what I started doing is I got the you savings thing or whatever [00:19:20] Speaker C: the hell digital coupon Yep. [00:19:22] Speaker A: So now we're down to $2 a pound. [00:19:25] Speaker C: You can't get it for two bucks a pound. [00:19:26] Speaker A: Yeah, you can. [00:19:27] Speaker C: So you're gonna buy a gross of $2 cherries and start canning them in here? [00:19:31] Speaker A: Just to say fucking sack doing it. [00:19:34] Speaker B: It's been doing it for like a year. [00:19:35] Speaker C: We've been doing it. Oh, you've been canning. [00:19:37] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:19:37] Speaker C: For a year? [00:19:38] Speaker B: Yeah, every year. [00:19:40] Speaker C: Go on. In the basement here. [00:19:41] Speaker A: No, it's kind of funny. I do it in my basement. I do it in. First time I did it, I came out looking like Dexter can just. [00:19:50] Speaker C: You remember because of the blood from [00:19:52] Speaker A: the cherries, but it was everywhere. And I mean, I had to call. Began construction for emergency backsplash. [00:20:00] Speaker C: Really? Because it ruined your wall. [00:20:02] Speaker A: The old lady was not happy about the state of the kitchen. So I got. [00:20:07] Speaker C: Because you were using that cherry pitter. [00:20:08] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:20:09] Speaker C: And it's just splashes. [00:20:11] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:20:13] Speaker A: So I got kicked down into the basement into the. What's it? Sink. When I do it now, I put up, like shower curtains. It's like a. It is like sex serial killer. And I take my T shirt off. So I do it tits out. Right. [00:20:29] Speaker C: Disgusting. Because if anyone's listening, they get cherries. And they're not gonna ever want a cherry in them. [00:20:34] Speaker A: Cherries, it goes everywhere. It's unbelievable. Like, I wrecked a really good electric 6T shirt with cherry juice. [00:20:45] Speaker C: Yeah, cherry juice don't come out easy. Or at all maybe. [00:20:48] Speaker A: So now I go down in the basement with my big bags of cherries and I pit, you know, destone them. Bring them up. I gotta. Well, I guess it isn't. [00:20:58] Speaker C: We put them in mason jars. [00:20:59] Speaker A: Not mason jars, just jam jars. You can only keep them for a year. If you put them in whiskey, they'll last a year. [00:21:08] Speaker C: What are you putting them in? Formaldehyde. [00:21:09] Speaker A: So, no, I'm putting them in. Well, do you remember the first batch I made? It was like, pure whiskey. [00:21:14] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah. So it's like a shot of whiskey in each one, right? [00:21:19] Speaker A: Yeah. So I paired it back to enough whiskey to, you know, keep the germs away, so to speak. So I guess it's not a secret if I. If I tell our listeners in, you know, in. In Saudi Arabia and Canada and wherever we have them now that what I do is put a bit of splash of food coloring purple and pink, just to make sure it, you know. [00:21:42] Speaker B: Yeah, Pops. [00:21:43] Speaker A: Pops. I got some cheap vanilla. Not actual vanilla essence that costs a [00:21:50] Speaker C: bloody vanilla is expensive imitation, but. [00:21:53] Speaker B: Right. [00:21:53] Speaker C: Real vanilla. [00:21:54] Speaker A: But now, so I use imitation vanilla because I gotta cut corners, but okay. And then. So what I say whiskey. And then I got. Oh, my. And then I just put some actual cherry syrup in. The funny thing is, a cough syrup, I still have to boil them for a minute. Just, you know, do it. But when I do it, it dies. The pan and all the food we eat for the next week. So, like last. Last night, we had pink. No noodles. [00:22:25] Speaker B: No. [00:22:26] Speaker A: Yeah. Mrs. Don't complain about that. Funnily enough, she laughs about it. Yeah, she's like pink mashed potato or whatever. [00:22:34] Speaker C: But I had no idea this whole cherry operation was going on. [00:22:38] Speaker A: Well, anyway, the point is, can I get a jar? The little winds. [00:22:44] Speaker C: That's a win. Oh, so I'll take it now. You're serving these at the. At the lodge. [00:22:50] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:22:50] Speaker C: Yeah. And do they hold up? People think they're nice cherries. [00:22:54] Speaker B: I've never had a complaint. [00:22:57] Speaker C: And all this is to save $2 and. [00:22:59] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm colossally saving on this. [00:23:02] Speaker B: Yeah, it's keeping the doors open. [00:23:04] Speaker A: Only takes me two hours as well. [00:23:06] Speaker C: Two hours. Yeah. Some might say the juice isn't worth a squeeze in this case. [00:23:11] Speaker A: We should do something with the juice. [00:23:14] Speaker B: I thought you saved. [00:23:15] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. You don't save. [00:23:16] Speaker A: Remember I told you, throw it away. I don't really. [00:23:18] Speaker C: Cherry juice. [00:23:19] Speaker A: Yeah, well, it's. It's like the little. The brine that it's in, if you want to call it that, is like whiskey, vanilla. Cherry syrup. [00:23:27] Speaker C: Could you use it to make, like, a cherry limeade of some kind? [00:23:29] Speaker B: Like, I don't know, maybe just put it with soda water? [00:23:32] Speaker C: Yes, soda water. And, like, get a little cherry. [00:23:34] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. [00:23:36] Speaker C: Cherry spritz. [00:23:37] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:23:37] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:23:38] Speaker B: Now we don't have people sticking their fingers in there because we use tongs to take the cherries out. [00:23:42] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:23:43] Speaker B: You know, so you're not drinking a bunch of finger juice. [00:23:45] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:23:47] Speaker A: Little wins. [00:23:48] Speaker C: Little wins, little wins. All right, a couple more from the [00:23:51] Speaker B: feedback, just real quick. Speaking of, you made a joke just now about taking about getting that website. I have a full life of disappointments or whatever. I actually procured the website. I have a fun life. [00:24:02] Speaker C: You did not. [00:24:03] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. I was going to wait for this reveal until I had it built, but now I. It'll be too late. You'll never believe me that I already had it at this point, but I do have the website. [00:24:14] Speaker C: You really have it? [00:24:15] Speaker B: I have it. [00:24:15] Speaker C: I have a fun life. [00:24:16] Speaker B: I have a fun life. Yep. [00:24:18] Speaker C: What are you trying to do here? [00:24:19] Speaker B: Well, I mean, yes, exactly what I'm trying to do. I have already tried to put photos of me having a good time on this website. [00:24:29] Speaker C: That's all it is. [00:24:30] Speaker B: Yeah. It's just gonna be photos of me having fun. And is it up and running? No, because I got it through this service called Ionos and there. It's kind of a pain in the ass. I can't figure out how to do it. And then I found out that I can transfer it over to Wix, which I already have, but it takes 60 days and I can't just cancel it and get a one. I've been on the phone with these people, but it's coming. [00:24:52] Speaker A: Why don't you just host it on the Lodges WIX account? [00:24:56] Speaker B: Because everything I just explained. Well, I guess I didn't explain it, [00:25:00] Speaker A: but the Lodges WIX account, we have six websites. [00:25:03] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:25:03] Speaker A: That you just redirect. [00:25:05] Speaker B: That's what I'm trying to do. I have a WIX account and that's what I'm trying to do with mine. But they're not making it easy, you know? And then they're telling me it takes 60 days to do it. [00:25:17] Speaker A: You got to propagate and everything. [00:25:18] Speaker B: Yeah. So I've got to wait all this time where I could have just gotten it through WIX to begin with. That was my big misstep. But now it's too late. [00:25:25] Speaker C: 60 days to launch a website? [00:25:26] Speaker B: No, to transfer. [00:25:28] Speaker A: To transfer does take 60 days because it has to propagate through the entire Internet. [00:25:33] Speaker B: Yeah. So I think I got it like two weeks ago. It was right after we did our last podcast and I made a joke about getting it. I did go home and get it. And so I've only got 60 days, minus two weeks to wait. [00:25:45] Speaker A: You're gonna get business cards and just give them to people. [00:25:48] Speaker B: Oh, I'm going all out. Yeah. [00:25:49] Speaker C: Stolen my idea. [00:25:51] Speaker B: No, I took your idea, made it better. [00:25:52] Speaker A: Yeah. Plus you're still sitting on it. [00:25:55] Speaker B: Yeah. You don't even have a website. [00:25:57] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:25:58] Speaker B: You've been doing that. Yeah, that's. That's the whole point. I'm trying to motivate you. You can be like me. So right now I'm the person on the bike, you're in the car. You can be like me on a bike. [00:26:07] Speaker C: I'll go home this afternoon and I will launch. I have a full life.com because I do all my things through GoDaddy and it's ready made, it's ready to go. I just haven't done it. But I'm gonna do it before. [00:26:17] Speaker B: You see there we go. See, I'm motivating you. I'm making you a better person. [00:26:20] Speaker C: And it will be. The first thing will be a picture of Big Pat in a hotel room wearing a wife beater. [00:26:26] Speaker B: Great. [00:26:26] Speaker C: Holding his. [00:26:27] Speaker B: Thank me next time we wonder what [00:26:29] Speaker C: the fuck that's about. [00:26:32] Speaker A: Okay, I gotta check. I might be going viral as we speak. [00:26:36] Speaker B: Oh, did you put a video out there of you pitting cherries with your shirt off? [00:26:42] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm gonna take that. No, Deanna did one me. I had to do this fake voice memo to her. [00:26:50] Speaker C: For what? What are we talking about? [00:26:51] Speaker A: For social media stuff. Oh, it's unbearable. [00:27:02] Speaker C: What the hell is this about? Keeping scrolling through your phone like a grandpa looking at videos? [00:27:10] Speaker A: Is this what Techno Viking. [00:27:18] Speaker C: You're really. [00:27:19] Speaker A: God, it's unbearable. [00:27:20] Speaker C: Is that a real voice memo to Deanna? [00:27:23] Speaker B: What are we doing? [00:27:24] Speaker A: She made me do it. [00:27:25] Speaker C: Oh. Oh, that's. Where is that gonna play? [00:27:28] Speaker A: It's on the link everywhere. Instagram. But I don't have Instagram. [00:27:32] Speaker C: Well, that makes sense. [00:27:33] Speaker A: It's only got 40 likes. I thought it would have added 40 likes on Instagram by now. [00:27:37] Speaker B: It takes. [00:27:38] Speaker C: How many followers does the Lincoln launch have? About. [00:27:41] Speaker B: I have no idea. I don't have social media. [00:27:43] Speaker A: It's not really my. It's not my area. [00:27:47] Speaker B: Let's call up Deanna and ask her. [00:27:49] Speaker C: Yeah, we get her in here, get around the line, maybe she can help [00:27:54] Speaker A: cure your Internet stalled career. [00:27:58] Speaker B: Yeah, maybe she can help you build a website. [00:28:00] Speaker C: Yeah, I know how to do that. I built everybody whiffs dot com. I'm sure everybody's seen that. [00:28:06] Speaker A: No, because it take. It takes me to. [00:28:09] Speaker B: Yeah, it takes you to Buffalo Bills. [00:28:10] Speaker A: Yeah, Buffalo Bill's Instagram page. [00:28:14] Speaker C: I don't want to get me all riled up. [00:28:17] Speaker B: Don't get me yelling. [00:28:18] Speaker C: Don't get me yelling. All right, who are we doing today? Who's our comedian? [00:28:23] Speaker A: So we are not pretending to do one a week. [00:28:26] Speaker C: I don't know, I thought we are pretending. [00:28:28] Speaker B: I guess the cat's out of the bag now. [00:28:31] Speaker C: Well, yeah, like, how do we do current events? Like, I wanted to talk about, you know, your. Your, I would think depression from the World Cup. Didn't say anything. Texted you. I even texted you a nice thing like, hey, I'm sorry your team lost nothing. Just. [00:28:45] Speaker B: I'll tell you what. Let's save World cup talk for the next episode. So we have something to talk. We already kind of exhausted everything. [00:28:52] Speaker C: We're really showing them how we make sausage. [00:28:54] Speaker A: Who's first? [00:28:56] Speaker B: Who's on first. [00:28:57] Speaker C: Who's first? Liza Trigger. [00:28:59] Speaker B: Yeah, Liza. [00:29:00] Speaker C: Liza Traeger. [00:29:01] Speaker B: Lisa. [00:29:02] Speaker C: It's like Lisa with a Z. Lisa Traeger. [00:29:04] Speaker B: Is it Traeger or Trigger? [00:29:06] Speaker C: Trigger. Lisa Traeger. [00:29:08] Speaker A: Today is Traeger first. [00:29:10] Speaker C: Yes. Yes. We can't talk about how we do this here live on the air. We have listeners from Japan. [00:29:18] Speaker B: People want to know. Yeah. [00:29:20] Speaker C: Hey, how about Cayman Islands? [00:29:21] Speaker B: How about my boys out there in Ottawa? [00:29:24] Speaker C: Canada. We're big in Canada. [00:29:25] Speaker B: I want to know who's listening out there. Can you write in? [00:29:27] Speaker C: Yeah. This was a welcome surprise to find out we have listeners all around the world. Yeah. [00:29:33] Speaker B: My Canadian friends. [00:29:34] Speaker C: How does this work? [00:29:35] Speaker B: Email the lincolnlodgebarmail.com and send me a picture of you listening to the show. [00:29:40] Speaker C: Yeah, I had no idea. You see, you're always minimizing our reach. And here we are all over the world. So what's to account for this, our worldwide listenership? [00:29:50] Speaker A: I lost the. [00:29:51] Speaker B: How do we get so famous? [00:29:52] Speaker C: I haven't. [00:29:52] Speaker A: I lost the screenshot. Fucking Samsung. [00:29:55] Speaker B: I have it somewhere here. [00:29:56] Speaker A: Samsung discontinued their messaging and rolled it over into Google. And now I've lost. [00:30:01] Speaker C: I've lost all your messages. [00:30:03] Speaker A: I've lost. No, it's like. It lost half of them and. But I lost threads from famous people that I used to use to impress people. [00:30:13] Speaker C: You lost those threads? [00:30:14] Speaker A: And now I haven't got my Kumail threads gone. Oh, yeah. My Bobcat Goldthwaite's gone. [00:30:21] Speaker C: You have to start a new thread. That sucks. [00:30:23] Speaker A: I know. Bastards. [00:30:26] Speaker C: I feel like that's. That's grievable. [00:30:28] Speaker A: And it sort of retained half of some threads, you know, from like a year ago. [00:30:33] Speaker C: It might. They might restore. Sometimes that happens to me and on the iPhone, like, it'll, you know, wipe out a whole, you know, four months of text. And I'm like, fuck. But then they come back. So it might come back. [00:30:44] Speaker A: Now, this is a software conversion. Like, Samsung phased out their proprietary and told everyone, you got to go to Google now. [00:30:52] Speaker C: I don't know what that means, so [00:30:53] Speaker A: I think I'm hosed. So I lost that picture. [00:30:56] Speaker B: Well, did you see. I just. I sent it to you again just now. [00:30:59] Speaker A: So tell. [00:30:59] Speaker C: Tell the listeners at home some of the many countries in which we are playing and doing well. Well, of course, don't give them the actual numbers. Of course. [00:31:07] Speaker B: We're in Chicago, Illinois. Yeah. We stretch as far as Lincolnwood, Illinois. [00:31:13] Speaker C: Be my son up there at Teddy's ice cream working. [00:31:16] Speaker B: Oak Park, Illinois, represented on the list. [00:31:19] Speaker C: What up, what up? Oak Park. Osaka, Osaka, Osaka, Japan. [00:31:24] Speaker B: Mm. Parker, Colorado. [00:31:27] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:31:29] Speaker B: I don't know. Maybe it's one of Hagen's friends. [00:31:31] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:31:32] Speaker B: We've got Hanoi. Hanoi. [00:31:35] Speaker C: Hanoi. Vietnam. [00:31:37] Speaker A: Yep. [00:31:37] Speaker B: Is that Vietnam? Yeah. In Ottawa, Ontario. [00:31:41] Speaker C: That's some of your peeps up there, I think. [00:31:44] Speaker A: I only screenshot at the top. [00:31:45] Speaker B: Even though we used to be rivals in hockey, but then the Sabers didn't matter for so long, I don't think the rivalry lasted. [00:31:53] Speaker C: Well, let me say hello to Canada. Good morning, Vietnam. Ichiban. Japan. [00:32:04] Speaker A: I thought it was nomo arigato. [00:32:06] Speaker C: Nomo arigato. And I thought the Cayman Islands were on there, too. [00:32:11] Speaker B: No, I didn't see the Cayman Islands. Are you thinking about Oak Park, Illinois? [00:32:14] Speaker C: Maybe. Maybe it's like my Cayman Islands. Well, that's amazing. That's something to brag about, right? We're doing well. [00:32:23] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah, we are. Worldwide. [00:32:26] Speaker C: Small victories, sizable victory. Yeah, I would say that sizable. [00:32:30] Speaker B: We've got 51 people listening. In Canada. [00:32:32] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:32:32] Speaker B: In Ottawa alone. [00:32:33] Speaker C: Just in Ottawa. [00:32:34] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:32:34] Speaker C: We don't. The other provinces. We don't know. [00:32:36] Speaker B: Yeah. Why Ottawa? [00:32:37] Speaker C: He didn't. He only showed a few of the. Few of the countries. [00:32:41] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:32:42] Speaker C: Yeah. All right, well, let's get into it then, because we're. We got a lot to do today. A lot to talk about. [00:32:48] Speaker B: Lots to talk about. [00:32:49] Speaker C: Mark chose for us today. Lisa. Liza Trigger. [00:32:53] Speaker B: Lisa. [00:32:53] Speaker C: Lisa. Lisa Trigger. [00:32:56] Speaker A: Traeger. [00:32:57] Speaker C: Traeger. A Russian gal who is alumni of the Lincoln Lodge. Is this right? [00:33:04] Speaker A: The Chicago scene? Yes. [00:33:06] Speaker C: Not just the Lodge. The Chicago scene at large. [00:33:10] Speaker A: Tell us why Lisa was always a favorite of mine. I really liked her. Sass. [00:33:17] Speaker C: Very sassy. Yeah. [00:33:18] Speaker A: Very acerbic. Is that. Is that. [00:33:21] Speaker C: No, acerbic works. [00:33:24] Speaker A: A Serbic word. [00:33:24] Speaker C: Serbic wit. [00:33:26] Speaker A: Yes. And I'd always really liked her, and I thought she was going places and this, you know, the usual bollocks. But then I kind of had a. I don't know. She went viral a few years ago back slagging off Bernie Sanders. And that really soured my cream, as it were. [00:33:47] Speaker C: That's bad, right? Sour cream? [00:33:48] Speaker A: Yeah, it. And so I feel like I've been looking as an olive branch [00:33:55] Speaker B: when you say it soured your cream. That could be used as a relief for sunburn. [00:34:02] Speaker A: I forgot about that. That wasn't a deliberate callback. But anyway. [00:34:07] Speaker C: The hell are you talking about? [00:34:08] Speaker B: Oh, did you not watch the special? [00:34:10] Speaker A: Yeah. Did you just skim it? [00:34:12] Speaker C: I watched it two weeks ago when I thought we were recording the next day. [00:34:19] Speaker A: What? [00:34:20] Speaker C: I'm eating a. [00:34:21] Speaker B: God damn it. It's so Gross. [00:34:23] Speaker A: No, now he's holding it like a child. [00:34:25] Speaker B: I know he won't chew until I turn the mic. [00:34:27] Speaker A: It's gonna melt. I leave it off because it'll melt. So, anyway, I'll keep talking. So, always a big fan of Lisa. And then there was a thing a few years back where she went on. I think I went on a podcast. And then she got called onto CNN for it because people went ballistic that she said, you know, Bernie Sanders is an old git. He just needs to shut up and let. I think it was Hillary when he was running as Hillary. And I was like, wow, I'm not liking that. [00:34:56] Speaker C: Why weren't you like that? Because you're such a Sanders fan. [00:34:59] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:34:59] Speaker C: I didn't know you were a big Sanders fan. You know I'm a big Sanders fan, right? [00:35:05] Speaker A: What have I been saying for nigh on 18 months? Have I been coming on here like some Neo. Talk about some bullshit. [00:35:14] Speaker C: You don't talk about politics on here anyway. [00:35:16] Speaker A: Yeah, I try not to, but, you know, I'm a lefty. You know damn well I am. [00:35:19] Speaker C: Yeah. So, yeah, I do. But I didn't know you love Sanders specifically like I do. I got a bit. I got a big bumper sticker on my thing on the car. [00:35:27] Speaker A: Well, I don't love any American politicians because I'm not allowed to vote, so I'm disenfranchised. [00:35:32] Speaker C: Right, you're disenfranchised. [00:35:33] Speaker A: But, you know, I am oppressed. [00:35:36] Speaker B: We saw each other in the wild with you and your car, by the way. [00:35:39] Speaker C: You saw me? [00:35:39] Speaker B: Yeah, Remember? You saw me. I was parking outside of. Playing against sports. I was parking outside of the lingerie store. [00:35:44] Speaker C: That's right. [00:35:45] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:35:45] Speaker C: I yelled something about that. [00:35:47] Speaker B: Yeah. I made up a lie and said I was going to play it against sports. [00:35:49] Speaker C: You were going to linger when I [00:35:50] Speaker B: was really going to. Lingerie bras. Yeah. [00:35:52] Speaker C: Galore. [00:35:54] Speaker A: No wonder the softball teams getting murdered if they're all playing in knickers and corsets. [00:35:59] Speaker C: Does a lodge have a softball team? [00:36:01] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:36:02] Speaker C: What? [00:36:02] Speaker B: We've talked about this. [00:36:03] Speaker C: No, they don't. Does Elijah. [00:36:05] Speaker A: I told you this. [00:36:06] Speaker B: I know. I'm very surprised. We've talked about this on this podcast before. [00:36:09] Speaker C: We have. [00:36:10] Speaker B: I started it, like a month ago. [00:36:12] Speaker C: Why am I not invited? I'm a. I was a. [00:36:15] Speaker B: An all. [00:36:15] Speaker C: All conference baseball player in high school. [00:36:18] Speaker B: You can come. We could use all the help. We. I bet. Yeah. [00:36:20] Speaker A: He knows the team is worse than sars. [00:36:23] Speaker C: No way. [00:36:24] Speaker A: Way. [00:36:25] Speaker B: It's pretty bad. [00:36:26] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:36:27] Speaker B: We have a. We have the Most fun, though. Nobody's having a better time than us. [00:36:31] Speaker C: Why was I not invited? [00:36:34] Speaker B: It's not Wiffle Ball. I thought maybe you only stopped at Wiffle. [00:36:38] Speaker C: I'll come take a look. Let me know when you're playing. [00:36:40] Speaker B: Monday. Monday at nine. Where? 40 at North Avenue Fields diamond, number five. [00:36:45] Speaker C: Okay. I'm not coming. [00:36:47] Speaker A: Yep. 9:40. [00:36:51] Speaker C: Yeah. Good luck to you. You got nice jerseys. Yeah, we do like say Lincoln Lodge on them. Did you make them? [00:36:58] Speaker B: We don't have. We can have nice. They gave us shirts. And I fight against sports, no players. Yeah, I doctored mine. I. I put a Lincoln Lodge logo on the back using the T shirt press downstairs. I cut the sleeves off. Mine looks great. [00:37:13] Speaker C: Other people. For everybody. [00:37:14] Speaker B: Ever. I. I've offered. I told people, hey, if you want to show up. What did you get? Cottage. [00:37:18] Speaker A: Get. I didn't get caught, but get. Give me the shirts back and I'll put random ones on people. [00:37:25] Speaker B: That's what I've. I've been offering people that like, I [00:37:28] Speaker A: got, you know, I got. I got like. Like iron ons. [00:37:32] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:37:33] Speaker A: You know, Sex Machine. [00:37:34] Speaker B: That's. That's. That's what I wanted to find in the basement the other day. And I couldn't find them. I didn't know where they were. [00:37:38] Speaker A: They're all in the thing. Like Beaver patrol. [00:37:40] Speaker B: Yeah. Okay. That's what I want to put on people's shirts. Yeah. So that is the plan back. I've been offering them. Yeah. And some people just. I said just show up at Lincoln Lodge when I'm there and I'll. And I'll print your shirt for you. [00:37:51] Speaker A: But. [00:37:51] Speaker B: Yeah, it's a good time. Yeah, it is. [00:37:55] Speaker C: Is it 16 inch or 12? [00:37:56] Speaker B: 12 inch. [00:37:58] Speaker A: I can't play my knees. Bollocks. So I didn't get. I went down. [00:38:01] Speaker C: You can catch. [00:38:03] Speaker A: I can't even do that. [00:38:04] Speaker C: You just stand. [00:38:05] Speaker A: If I even pivot quickly, my knee just goes sideways. [00:38:09] Speaker C: Well, maybe after you drop the 40 and you. [00:38:11] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:38:11] Speaker C: Get ripped. Abs and everything. [00:38:13] Speaker A: No, I got to get in the gym after that. Then it's another year project just to even get respectable. [00:38:18] Speaker C: Okay. [00:38:18] Speaker B: Our team name is the Lincoln Lodge Cottages. [00:38:20] Speaker C: That's the name. Why is there something like Lodge Cottage? [00:38:26] Speaker A: Let's let him figure it. [00:38:27] Speaker B: Yeah. I don't know. I don't know if. [00:38:29] Speaker C: Yeah, Lincoln. Like cottage. [00:38:33] Speaker B: Let's let that one linger. [00:38:34] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:38:35] Speaker C: Let that hang in the air. [00:38:38] Speaker A: They can figure it out in Osaka. [00:38:40] Speaker C: Is this. Is this what Enough soccer. [00:38:43] Speaker A: They can figure it out in Osaka. [00:38:45] Speaker C: Oh, no. [00:38:45] Speaker B: Saka. Yeah. [00:38:46] Speaker A: The Message boards. [00:38:47] Speaker C: Now. Is this the first ever Lincoln Lodge softball team? Not talking about. [00:38:51] Speaker A: Stop looking at me. It's his project. [00:38:53] Speaker C: I know, but you would. [00:38:54] Speaker B: Since I've been here, you are The [00:38:56] Speaker C: Lincoln Lodge, 20 years ago, was there ever a team? [00:38:58] Speaker A: No. [00:38:59] Speaker C: Wow. [00:39:00] Speaker A: Because SARS sucked in the hole. [00:39:02] Speaker C: Yeah. SARS was the last one. [00:39:03] Speaker A: Sars, Wolfhounds. What are they called? [00:39:06] Speaker C: The wolfhounds. [00:39:08] Speaker B: It was. It was Kelsey's idea. Really. We were having a meeting and it was the. The last item on the meeting agenda. [00:39:15] Speaker C: Should we start softball team? [00:39:16] Speaker B: I saw it in the beginning. I was like, oh, my God, that's great. [00:39:19] Speaker C: What about a bowling team? Could we. [00:39:21] Speaker B: 100%. [00:39:23] Speaker C: Yeah. For the winner. [00:39:24] Speaker B: Yeah, let's do it. [00:39:25] Speaker A: All right. [00:39:25] Speaker C: Can I be on it? [00:39:26] Speaker B: Are you a good bowler? [00:39:27] Speaker C: No. [00:39:28] Speaker B: Yes. [00:39:29] Speaker C: Okay. Lisa Traeger. What years was she walking the planks here? [00:39:37] Speaker A: I want to say 10 years ago. [00:39:38] Speaker C: At least 10 years ago. She's a Chicago gal. [00:39:42] Speaker A: No, she's a New Yorker. [00:39:43] Speaker C: Right, well, now. Oh, yeah. She does talk about being. [00:39:45] Speaker A: As a child. She was born in Odessa, Russia. But I think she came here when she was like three. Well, you allegedly saw the space. [00:39:54] Speaker C: I definitely saw this. I saw it. I'll tell you all about it. [00:39:57] Speaker A: I want to say three years in Chicago. [00:40:00] Speaker C: Popped in here for three years. [00:40:01] Speaker A: Yeah. I think she was big buds with Megan Gailey. They were kind of the sassy. [00:40:05] Speaker C: Who's Megan Gailey? [00:40:07] Speaker A: The woman. [00:40:08] Speaker C: Oh, we watched her. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. And she was a cast member at the lodge. No, no, no cast member. But performed here quite naturally. [00:40:19] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:40:20] Speaker C: Okay. And now where is she? I mean, I know she has a special. This was Netflix, wasn't it? [00:40:25] Speaker B: Yep. [00:40:26] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:40:26] Speaker C: Damn, that's kind of big, isn't it? Like, you don't just put anybody up on Netflix. [00:40:30] Speaker A: Well, no, this was self noticed that her production company produced it. So it might have been the whole best thing of. Okay, we'll make it. [00:40:38] Speaker C: Sell it to Netflix. Either way, Netflix isn't gonna put any piece of shit up there. [00:40:43] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. No, either way to get on to Netflix. [00:40:46] Speaker B: I thought the set looked great. [00:40:48] Speaker A: I thought it was the same club as Matt Rife, but at the end she said it was New York. [00:40:52] Speaker C: Yeah. Where in New York? [00:40:54] Speaker A: Do we know what One of the seller type places? I feel like. [00:40:57] Speaker C: Yeah, I don't think it was the comedy seller, but do you think they [00:40:59] Speaker B: dressed it up with all the pink for her? Was that like. Is that like part of her personality? [00:41:03] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, I think that's a brick wall basement thing. [00:41:07] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah. So now where is she in the. The current pantheon of comedians? She's. She. She comes through here next month. Where's she gonna play? [00:41:18] Speaker A: She's been a Zany's gal. [00:41:21] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:41:21] Speaker A: Yeah. Down the line. [00:41:22] Speaker C: Zany's here or Zany's Schomburg? [00:41:24] Speaker B: Rosemont. [00:41:25] Speaker C: Rosemont. Vernon Hills? Rosemont. [00:41:28] Speaker A: What? No, she's in town. Well, Zany's. [00:41:31] Speaker B: They. [00:41:31] Speaker A: They switch them out to both. [00:41:34] Speaker C: Has she ever stayed at the condo? [00:41:35] Speaker A: Nope. [00:41:36] Speaker C: With you? [00:41:37] Speaker A: Nope. [00:41:37] Speaker C: No. [00:41:39] Speaker B: Without you? [00:41:40] Speaker C: Without you? No. Never. Okay, well, that gives us the background. Or gives me the background that I needed, I think. [00:41:50] Speaker A: Do you. [00:41:50] Speaker C: Do you have a personal relationship with her? [00:41:52] Speaker A: Not particularly. I think we would both know each other if we. So how. I think. I don't want to say she had a schism with the Lincoln Lodge, but, like, one of her former bows was a large cast lead. [00:42:07] Speaker C: Who's that? [00:42:08] Speaker A: Well, I don't want to say, but, I mean, not it really matters. I'm just. I'm keeping it clean. [00:42:14] Speaker C: Sure. Yeah. [00:42:14] Speaker A: So. So one of her former bows was a Lincoln Lodge cast lead, which made it think, difficult to maintain once they'd parted ways. [00:42:25] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. [00:42:26] Speaker A: You know, it's like, ah, you know, I got to run into this guy. [00:42:29] Speaker C: Sure, sure. [00:42:30] Speaker A: So I think that didn't help. [00:42:32] Speaker C: So a cast lead is different from a cast member. They're the head of the cast. [00:42:35] Speaker A: Yeah, that's the person I actually deal with. [00:42:39] Speaker C: Okay, you don't deal with the other cast member. [00:42:40] Speaker B: Who's the current lead? [00:42:41] Speaker C: Yeah. Who's the current lead of this cast? [00:42:43] Speaker A: Deanna. [00:42:43] Speaker B: Deanna. [00:42:44] Speaker C: Deanna Ortiz. Yeah. How many cast members are there? Yeah. [00:42:50] Speaker A: Seven, maybe. [00:42:51] Speaker B: I'd say this sounds accurate. [00:42:53] Speaker C: When are auditions next? [00:42:55] Speaker A: You know, I've been at loggerheads with them about that. Yeah, they've been. They've gone back to this shitty osmosis display. Bring them in. And I'm not happy about it, but right now I've banned them on taking any further cast members on anyway, so not really pulling the weight, so. [00:43:12] Speaker C: Well, let me know. I'd like to audition for whenever the next one is. [00:43:15] Speaker A: All right. [00:43:15] Speaker B: You can talk about Lou Baga. [00:43:17] Speaker C: Yeah, maybe I'll tell him and his Ozempics. [00:43:19] Speaker A: I'll tell him to keep a particular lookout for your submission. [00:43:22] Speaker C: Yeah, cool. Thanks. All right, well, this is 2025, so this is relatively new. I don't know of any other specials out there that she has. Does she have any other specials? [00:43:34] Speaker A: This is a debut. [00:43:35] Speaker C: This is her debut, and. Well, I mean, who wants to weigh in first? On Liza's Trager's act. [00:43:46] Speaker B: I'll go. [00:43:47] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:43:47] Speaker B: Yeah, sure. I didn't know what to expect. I've never heard of her. [00:43:51] Speaker C: No. [00:43:52] Speaker B: But when she was coming up to the stage, I mentioned the pink right out of the gate. Just her personality, her affinity for the color pink reminded me of one of the comics that I really like here, Miss Mary Kelly. So just by association alone, I was already kind of like one foot in the door. You know, when you're watching these things, the first few minutes, you're being very. I don't know, skeptical is not the right word. You're just kind of, like, looking for anything that might rub you the wrong way almost. You know what I mean? Like, oh, is she going to do this the whole time? Oh, she can do this the whole time. But that was a very short period of time before I realized, no, I'm just going to enjoy this. [00:44:33] Speaker C: Are you talking about the material specifically, or the way her cadence. Like, Like, I. [00:44:37] Speaker B: Yes, exactly. That. When she would finish a joke and she. She'd punchline, and then I, you know, and I, you know, and I don't know if you guys do this, but I do this, or I'll be like, that wouldn't normally annoy me if I was seeing it anywhere else. But because we're going to review it, you know, I've. I'm, like, hypersensitive to something that I think might annoy me. So, of course, that was the first thing I was like, oh, no, it's gonna be this. But then I ended up liking that. [00:45:05] Speaker C: You ended up liking it? [00:45:06] Speaker B: Yeah, she, she, she. She flipped it. Yeah. So, yeah, that grew on you, or she grew on you. Just the. Her cadence, the way that she talked. Yeah. Because then that kind of became, like, part of her character, you know, and jokes wouldn't have really worked if she didn't do it that way because of her material. [00:45:22] Speaker C: It's her whole thing. [00:45:23] Speaker B: Yeah. And what she's talking about with, like, you know, the phones and Instagram and social media. But then, like, she is the perfect representation of all of that. Without. It's just sounding hacky and sounding like something I've heard a million times. Other comics that talk about the same thing. [00:45:39] Speaker C: As I've said on this program many times, Berthaas once took me aside and told me, I have no identity as a comedian. Some of the jokes were okay, but you don't have an identity, this gal. To your point, at first it sounds like, Christian, you didn't like her identity, but it became such A thing that she. [00:45:58] Speaker B: I want to say, no, not that she's doing identity humor. I didn't say I didn't like her identity. I said I was looking for things and I thought, this is what's going to turn me off. But I was wrong. [00:46:08] Speaker C: Yes. But then as the special goes on with her and probably with others, she becomes this complete character. [00:46:14] Speaker B: Yeah, exactly. [00:46:15] Speaker C: 360 character of who she is. [00:46:17] Speaker B: Right. [00:46:17] Speaker C: And it takes a little while to adjust to that, I think. [00:46:20] Speaker B: Yeah. Just like getting to know somebody in real life. [00:46:22] Speaker C: Yeah. Yeah. I find that the people I like the least when I first meet them up, like you, I didn't like you at all because, like most people, smug. And we in this country hate the British, as you know. So, you know, we have to break through that to actually get to know the real British person, the smug bastard. I mean, it doesn't take away. You're being smug, but we realize there's something underneath that smugness, the. [00:46:51] Speaker B: The center of that Cadbury egg. [00:46:53] Speaker C: Yeah. So I think if you walk in the room and you hear this, you hear Lisa Traeger, like my wife did. [00:46:59] Speaker A: She's. [00:46:59] Speaker C: First thing said, ugh. She says, like, too much. This is. My wife always comes in and makes a comment, then walks out. Right. Still, let me know. I get that. Right. Like, it's like, yeah, but. And I didn't like that either. [00:47:11] Speaker A: Mrs. Lurk on the fringe. [00:47:13] Speaker C: She's always lurking. She lurks on the fringe. [00:47:15] Speaker A: My missus is always lurking on the fringe. When I'm watching, I'll tell her, like, I'm gonna do. I'm gonna watch this comedy special. If it gets too annoying, let me know. And I, you know, head to the basement or whatever. But she sort of orbits the TV area. [00:47:31] Speaker C: Do you think she's intentionally orbiting just to. To get some of the special or just to know what you're watching or. [00:47:38] Speaker A: Yeah. I think it's a mixture of prurience and interest. [00:47:42] Speaker C: Prurience. Prurience. P, R, U. I don't know how to spell that. What does prurience mean to me? [00:47:55] Speaker A: Well, we can Oxford English this, but [00:47:57] Speaker C: do you know, prurience means. [00:47:59] Speaker A: It means an unnatural interest in something, doesn't it? [00:48:02] Speaker C: I don't know. [00:48:03] Speaker A: Maybe I'm. Maybe I'm trying to come off as funny. Smart. [00:48:07] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:48:07] Speaker C: Yeah. Dropping smug words on my bloody phone's [00:48:11] Speaker A: doing this now where it just won't stop. [00:48:13] Speaker C: You got problems with that phone? Yeah. My wife's always lurking about during these specials, weighing in when she comes in the room and I try to jot them down verbatim. What else did she say here? [00:48:30] Speaker B: I don't know. [00:48:31] Speaker C: Can't. I can't find it. But I was the same. What. What do you want to say? [00:48:36] Speaker B: No. [00:48:37] Speaker C: Just trying to fill my dead air. [00:48:39] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:48:39] Speaker C: Yeah. I didn't. I didn't come to like it at first. I don't like that kind of talk. I'm like, oh, my God, I'm not gonna watch this video. I didn't know what the fuck she was talking about. Her references were lost on me. What does Eiffel Towered mean? [00:48:53] Speaker A: Dude, I wrote down Eiffel. [00:48:55] Speaker C: What does that mean? [00:48:56] Speaker B: You don't know this? [00:48:57] Speaker A: I wasn't relying on you. I wrote. [00:48:59] Speaker B: You're like the king of knowing. [00:49:00] Speaker C: That was Eiffel Towered. [00:49:02] Speaker A: I wrote Eiffel Towered, question mark. And I was like, bill will know what it means. [00:49:07] Speaker B: It's some kind of, like, sexual intercourse thing. [00:49:10] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:49:10] Speaker C: Look who the expert is over here. Come on, enlighten us, Christian. [00:49:15] Speaker B: Come on. You're gonna make me describe an Eiffel Tower. Okay. It's. It's. It's. It's a. It's a move. [00:49:23] Speaker C: It's a move. You're familiar with this. [00:49:26] Speaker B: Two people involved in a threesome would perform together. When there's one person. When two people are standing up facing each other. [00:49:34] Speaker C: Two people standing up facing each other. [00:49:36] Speaker B: Naked. Naked. [00:49:37] Speaker C: Well, a man and a woman have to be. But a man and a woman best if. [00:49:40] Speaker B: So it tip. It's classically two guys. [00:49:46] Speaker C: Okay. [00:49:47] Speaker B: But it really could be anybody. [00:49:48] Speaker C: Okay. [00:49:49] Speaker B: Standing up, facing each other. There's a person in between them. [00:49:52] Speaker C: Okay. [00:49:53] Speaker B: Servicing both standards. You know, in England, that's an. [00:49:58] Speaker A: England. We call that a chocolate sandwich. [00:50:00] Speaker B: But then. But then what? But then the two people standing high five with both hands. [00:50:09] Speaker A: What? [00:50:09] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:50:11] Speaker C: Creating the Eiffel Tower. [00:50:12] Speaker B: Something that looks like the Eiffel Tower. [00:50:14] Speaker C: Yes, yes, I see. I see. You're very familiar with. [00:50:18] Speaker A: I had all of my money on you knowing immediately because it's kind of viz, like reference sort of thing that you would. [00:50:26] Speaker C: Yeah, no, you've got me wrong. You've got me wrong. I'm very. I'm puritan. I'm not. [00:50:32] Speaker A: You're the filth monger on this. [00:50:34] Speaker C: No, I'm no filth monger at all. I don't know. [00:50:37] Speaker B: He's clean as a whistle. [00:50:38] Speaker C: I don't know about that. Okay. So we learned today what a knife. [00:50:43] Speaker B: Old tower is becoming more worldly. Do you have any listeners in France? [00:50:48] Speaker A: Why would you high five in the middle of a sex. [00:50:50] Speaker B: Because you're in such a good mood, [00:50:52] Speaker C: because you and your buddy are getting, as Christian said, serviced, I believe, or [00:50:58] Speaker B: doing the serving, I suppose it could be. [00:51:02] Speaker C: Either way, it's disgusting, but I didn't know. [00:51:05] Speaker A: Maybe like on that Pearl Jam album cover. [00:51:08] Speaker C: Oh yeah, yeah. Maybe that's an Eiffel Tower. [00:51:10] Speaker A: Maybe they're oral. Eiffel Towering. Eddie Vedder. The other guys in the band. Hidden Meanings. [00:51:17] Speaker C: Maybe. Maybe. Something to think about. [00:51:19] Speaker B: The Pearl. Real Pearl Jam. [00:51:21] Speaker C: Yeah, well, hence the name. Yeah. Pearl Jam, Eiffel Tower. Look into it. Well, she's young. How young is this, this [00:51:33] Speaker B: gal, Lisa? [00:51:34] Speaker A: I don't want to incur. Liz's. [00:51:36] Speaker C: Well, just. She in her 30s. She in her 20s? I don't know from women today how old they are. [00:51:43] Speaker A: I. I was guessing at late 30s based upon the bit where she hated the. The niece. [00:51:52] Speaker B: Yeah, I guess she does look young. But then she showed the pictures at the end of her as a kid and they look like a long time ago. [00:51:58] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:51:58] Speaker B: You know, okay, so she may be 30s. Yeah. [00:52:00] Speaker C: Right. But to me she's young. [00:52:03] Speaker A: Wait, we can do the maths on this. She said her old man had. Was what, 48 when she was born and he's 80. [00:52:13] Speaker C: Escaped the Nazis, this fellow. Didn't she say her dad escaped the Nazis? Yeah, yeah, that's not. Can't be. Unless she's. She herself is in her 50s. [00:52:25] Speaker A: Yeah, it's bollocks. No, cuz she said she was born when he was 50. I want to say like the mum's 42, the dad's 50. Ish. [00:52:36] Speaker B: Is that what she said? I don't. [00:52:37] Speaker C: I got it right here. [00:52:38] Speaker A: And then he's nine, he's 80 something. [00:52:41] Speaker C: He's 86. She's 78. She was 42 when he was born. He was 50. I have copious notes. [00:52:48] Speaker B: 36. [00:52:48] Speaker A: 36. Boom. [00:52:50] Speaker C: She's 36. [00:52:51] Speaker A: Which has solved it. Empirical evidence. [00:52:55] Speaker C: Nice work. [00:52:56] Speaker A: God, I bet the audience loving this. [00:52:58] Speaker B: Oh, if I was listening to this, I'd be. Yeah, I'd be Eiffel towering my wall. [00:53:05] Speaker C: Yeah, well, I didn't. She seemed much younger. She is much younger than me. I'm a ripe 50. I don't know a lot of these references. I don't know what she's talking about. The video. She's always talking about these YouTube videos. [00:53:19] Speaker B: YouTube shorts. Yeah, that's just, that's just like another like tick tock sort of thing. [00:53:24] Speaker C: Yeah, I don't, I don't. But what I did like Is that she was unabashed about being such a phone addict. [00:53:33] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:53:33] Speaker C: You know what I mean? Most people are trying to downplay it. She's like, no, all I do is look at my phone. [00:53:39] Speaker B: I've got. I had tennis elbow and I never played tennis. [00:53:42] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:53:42] Speaker C: Just from her phone. I like that candidness. [00:53:46] Speaker B: Yeah. I do appreciate that sort of thing. [00:53:48] Speaker C: I can appreciate. [00:53:49] Speaker A: I think if you're gonna do a lot of material denigrating other people, you have to kind of have a hands up moment of saying, yeah, hey, I'm no better. Because otherwise. [00:54:01] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:54:01] Speaker A: You're gonna come off smoke. [00:54:02] Speaker C: Like Andrew Santino or Anthony Jeselnik is the first one. [00:54:06] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:54:07] Speaker C: Like they put everybody down, but they never turn the mirror on themselves. Yeah. [00:54:11] Speaker A: So I think you have to do that. [00:54:12] Speaker C: Yeah, I agree. I agree. I think she did that well. Yeah. I like what. Maybe my favorite bitch she did was clap if you have sex with men. Right. Then she said, clap if you haven't slapped a dick on your face. [00:54:28] Speaker B: The one woman clapping. Did you see who was clapping? The one woman at the table, just kind of looking around and then she's [00:54:34] Speaker C: like, I don't know. [00:54:35] Speaker A: I just. [00:54:36] Speaker C: No real reason for that. So. Yeah. So I didn't come to like her at first. I was very turned off by her speech patterns and her words and her references. But as it goes on, despite my wife saying, like, she's terrible, I was like, man, I kind of like it. She's like, what? I was like, I kind of like it. By the end, I enjoyed it. [00:55:02] Speaker A: You know, that's a great bit. I did discuss the special with another Lisa fan last night. [00:55:08] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:55:09] Speaker A: And we both agreed that she was in this special. She's kind of nervous and talking fast for Lisa. [00:55:18] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:55:19] Speaker A: Normally she's a little. A little slower paced and a little, little less agitated. [00:55:27] Speaker C: Yeah. You got to think the nerves are ratcheted up. Especially if you're not a seasoned comedian. Like, say, Eddie Murphy. [00:55:33] Speaker A: Well, Lisa is a seasoned comedian. Maybe. It's just. Maybe when you've got 20 grand of it. 20 grand into the project of your own cash. [00:55:42] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. [00:55:43] Speaker A: It gives an urgency. [00:55:44] Speaker C: Yeah. I didn't mean she wasn't seasoned. I think anyone that's doing a special, save for Brett Goldstein, a season, but, like, unless you've done these before. Right. The first special has got to be a nerve wracker. Right. Nothing. [00:55:57] Speaker B: No. [00:55:57] Speaker C: No production value to this. No. No little skit beforehand. Nothing. [00:56:02] Speaker B: We just wr the name on the screen. She's walking up to the stage. [00:56:07] Speaker C: I feel like you appreciate that, Mark, you don't want any treacle. Fanfare. [00:56:11] Speaker A: We don't. [00:56:11] Speaker C: Comedy treacle. [00:56:12] Speaker A: We don't have no time for psychological romance. No romance. [00:56:17] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:56:18] Speaker A: Word up. [00:56:19] Speaker B: Is that Lady Gaga? [00:56:21] Speaker A: Cameo. [00:56:22] Speaker C: Cameo the band. [00:56:24] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:56:24] Speaker C: From Word Up. Word Up. Cameo. [00:56:28] Speaker A: Word. You remember that sounded like Adam Croesus doing a gay voice. [00:56:32] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:56:33] Speaker A: That's supposed to be very croissious. Got the word from Cameo doing. Word Up. [00:56:39] Speaker C: Word up. [00:56:41] Speaker A: Yeah. Say enough singing. Sing enough of Word up, and you'll be like, hang on, this is Crocious doing a gay man doing his. [00:56:49] Speaker C: His. No, Steve the Screaming Queen. [00:56:52] Speaker A: Steve the Green. Yeah. Because Wallingford's English. [00:56:55] Speaker C: Yeah. Did you see the bit? The. When it was sort of towards the end when she goes. I don't remember what the joke was, but she goes. And then, you know, I could have. I'd be like a girl with bangs like this. And then they cut to the audience and it's a girl with the bangs. [00:57:10] Speaker B: Yeah, exactly like she. [00:57:12] Speaker A: The girl laughing is the one. Maybe she saw. Maybe subconsciously I thought maybe subconsciously she saw that girl. [00:57:19] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:57:20] Speaker A: And rolled with it. But I don't know, it seems. I mean, there's a million, million great bits in this. The decorating pig. We can't kill a pig if it can decorate. [00:57:30] Speaker C: Yeah, I thought about that recently, by the way. That's stuck in my craw. [00:57:35] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:57:36] Speaker C: Yeah. Because I don't know if I told you guys. I had a hot dog. Hot dog. The other night at the game. [00:57:42] Speaker B: No. Are you okay? [00:57:46] Speaker C: Yeah, it was a dry dog. I did a dry dog. [00:57:48] Speaker B: Just nothing on it at all. [00:57:49] Speaker C: Nothing on it. It just went down and got it brought back to the seat. [00:57:52] Speaker B: What made you do this? [00:57:53] Speaker C: Well, I had the catfish a couple weeks ago. I told you. [00:57:56] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:57:57] Speaker C: And then dabbling yourself back into meat [00:58:01] Speaker B: with the worst meat. [00:58:02] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:58:02] Speaker B: You can possibly eat. [00:58:04] Speaker C: That's good. Now I know why you. [00:58:05] Speaker B: Yeah. They are dogs every day. [00:58:06] Speaker C: They're so good. [00:58:07] Speaker B: So freaking good. [00:58:08] Speaker C: God, they're good. [00:58:09] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:58:11] Speaker C: But when I ate that hot dog, I had already watched the special, I thought about the pig decorating and thought, like, yeah, I shouldn't eat this hot dog. But I still ate it. It was terrific. [00:58:21] Speaker B: That pig's not decorating anything. If you become a hot dog, you're not decorating. [00:58:25] Speaker A: You're low on the pig toe. [00:58:27] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:58:27] Speaker A: So stone a bit. Very good car test. Great images she just talked about get. I mean, I thought, this is going to be one of those trite comedian getting high things. [00:58:39] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:58:40] Speaker A: But she Just talked about. I mean it was regular stoner material, but car test drive. Why shouldn't I do it high? I need to do it under real conditions. [00:58:54] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:58:55] Speaker A: Immigrant parents, obviously immigrant parents are kind of grist for the mill. But she did it well, obviously. [00:59:02] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:59:02] Speaker A: And tied it in with the photos at the end. [00:59:05] Speaker C: Yeah, that was good. That was nice. [00:59:09] Speaker A: Now I got parenting bit. What does Bill think? [00:59:13] Speaker C: Which parenting bit? [00:59:14] Speaker A: She did a whole bit about her parents. No, no. About why she can't parent and about how self righteous parents are and stuff. I didn't know. Yeah, yeah, I bet that's what got, get. Got your old lady riled up. [00:59:29] Speaker C: She was already riled up. She's already riled up. I don't know if I've stuff written down about that bit, but yeah, I did like that. I did like how she makes fun of. I love when, I personally love when people make fun of me. Not directly, but like they make fun of being Catholic or make fun of being an overprotective parent. And I thought she just got stronger and stronger as she went on. And I thought she was her best when she was just casually talking about TV shows. I'm like, this girl's just up here talking about the TV shows she watches and there's no jokes. She's just telling about an episode of Real Housewives. And I thought she was her most natural doing that. But then the jokes got. I thought like when she talks about how your everyday lifestyle is someone else's rock bottom. Yeah, right. Like going to McDonald's. Like I had to go to McDonald's and eat it. You're like, I eat at McDonald's every day. And then how she said when she'll be with friends and one friend will leave early or leave the table. She said to them, you, you want to talk about them? [01:00:34] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:00:34] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:00:35] Speaker C: This is great. This is great. [01:00:38] Speaker B: Yeah. She's got, she's just got this way of talking that I was watching thinking like I would sit at a bar talking to this person, you know, like I could sit here talking to this person for an hour and that's what it felt like listening to her. [01:00:51] Speaker C: Yeah. And in that, in this sense, it was similar to Steph Tola for me. Like at first I was like, this is awful. I can't listen to this. But as they, they grow on you. [01:00:59] Speaker B: Right. [01:01:00] Speaker C: You know, I think that's a mark of a good comedian, you know, when they are off putting it first, you know. [01:01:06] Speaker B: Right, right. And then they win you and they win you over. [01:01:09] Speaker C: Right. [01:01:10] Speaker B: All right. You got anything else? [01:01:15] Speaker A: No, I can't read my last comment. No, Something about bowling. [01:01:22] Speaker C: Oh, yeah, there's something about bowling and how it's actually kind of hard. She's saying, like, yeah, she's right. [01:01:28] Speaker B: That nobody wants to be called ma'. Am. [01:01:30] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:01:30] Speaker B: I called somebody ma' am once at a Bills game 20 years ago, and I've never done it since. [01:01:35] Speaker C: She. You could tell she was offended. [01:01:36] Speaker B: She was not. She outright yelled at me for calling her ma'. [01:01:40] Speaker C: Am. Yeah. [01:01:41] Speaker A: My favorite bit, I put the greatest bit is the men shagging crazy women. And she stopped doing it. Like. [01:01:49] Speaker C: Yeah, really great writing. Does she write for anybody or any? [01:01:54] Speaker A: Not that I know of. I don't really know her as a writer of stuff, obviously. She's big on the podcasts in terms of, you know, talking head, like, comments, sassy sort of commentary. [01:02:05] Speaker C: I could see her being on one of those VHS ones, like the 80s, like. [01:02:08] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:02:09] Speaker C: Weighing in on that kind of stuff. All right, well, I think we're gonna get a positive review here for Lisa Traeger. She had to win two of us over. One person was, you know. [01:02:21] Speaker A: Well, this was an olive branch for me. [01:02:24] Speaker C: Why do you keep saying olive branch? Because. What? You said that in a previous episode where you're extending an olive branch to. Was it Camille or something? What do you mean? It's an olive branch. I know what an olive branch means. I don't need that mansplain to me. But how is this an olive branch in any way? [01:02:39] Speaker A: It was me reconnecting with the work of Lisa Trager having been. [01:02:47] Speaker C: And after reconnecting. [01:02:49] Speaker A: Well, I always knew the comedy was going to be great, whether it would. Would win me. So. Yeah, I don't know. What's our rating system? [01:02:55] Speaker B: Yeah, I was gonna. How about how many butterfly tattoos? [01:03:01] Speaker C: Yeah, okay. How many butterfly tattoos would you give her, Lisa Trigger? [01:03:07] Speaker B: Out of five, how big? How large of a butterfly tattoo? Between one to five inches. [01:03:13] Speaker C: Okay. Yeah. Small being. [01:03:16] Speaker A: I feel like we miss leaving Eiffel Tower. [01:03:18] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. How many Eiffel Towers? [01:03:21] Speaker A: No, no, no. How far? [01:03:22] Speaker B: How many floors up the Eiffel Tower? [01:03:23] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:03:24] Speaker C: Jesus Christ. [01:03:25] Speaker B: Yeah, there's a hundred. [01:03:25] Speaker C: Like the woman or not. [01:03:26] Speaker B: There's a hundred floors in the Eiffel Tower. And we'll tell you if we liked her or not. By how many floors. [01:03:33] Speaker A: Yep. [01:03:34] Speaker B: The higher, the better. [01:03:35] Speaker A: So she took me up to the 90th floor of the Eiffel Tower. [01:03:39] Speaker B: That's pretty high. [01:03:40] Speaker A: There was that little bit of 90th floor. [01:03:43] Speaker C: Out of how many floors he just said 190th floor. Just got to the 90th. [01:03:49] Speaker A: Yeah. The only reason it didn't hit the peak, the top, the high five, was because of the rushed nature of the material. And I guess I kind of know her delivery enough to know this wasn't executed exactly as she would want it. [01:04:07] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:04:07] Speaker A: So that's. Why. [01:04:08] Speaker C: Do you have notes up there? No. You see any notes? 90 out of a. Not a. Not a high five at the top, necessarily. [01:04:19] Speaker A: All right, I think I'm. We make it to the observation deck. [01:04:22] Speaker B: Observation deck. But you're not going up to the actual needle. [01:04:25] Speaker C: If it were a traditional scale. I think he's saying four out of five. [01:04:27] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:04:28] Speaker C: Fair enough. [01:04:28] Speaker B: Well, four and a half out of five. [01:04:29] Speaker C: Four and a half. [01:04:30] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:04:30] Speaker C: Wow. [01:04:31] Speaker A: It kind of ruined in it, right? [01:04:32] Speaker C: Whatever. [01:04:33] Speaker B: Whatever. [01:04:33] Speaker C: All right. What are you saying? What are you saying? [01:04:36] Speaker B: I'm not gonna go quite as high. I'm going to go 80 floors up. Yeah. I just. I really enjoyed it, but I would give it a four out of five butterflies. And that is 80 floors. [01:04:47] Speaker C: 80 floors. It's kind of like now I think about it more, it's kind of like a movie that you hate. Like, for most of it, you're like, this movie sucks. And then the end, something happens. You're like, that was actually pretty cool. But it doesn't take away the first hour and a half of the movie that you hated. And so I've got to temper my rating here because of that. I didn't. I didn't come to like her until afterwards. So I'm going to give her 60 floors of stingy. [01:05:16] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:05:16] Speaker B: You're making it to the diner. [01:05:18] Speaker C: Yeah. I've never been on the Eiffel Tower. They have a diner? [01:05:20] Speaker B: Yeah, diner on the 60th floor. [01:05:22] Speaker C: Do they really? [01:05:22] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. They're serving up French toast. [01:05:28] Speaker C: 65 floors. What's that? Three? A third. I give her a stone. She. She lost three stone. [01:05:36] Speaker A: And then put it back on. [01:05:37] Speaker C: Then put it back on. I hope that doesn't happen to you. All right, so you heard it here. Lisa traeger, Russian, watches TV, loves sex, doesn't like kids. Lost 40 stone. And Night Owl eats McDonald's. Night Owl, 2025. What was it about the night owl? [01:06:00] Speaker B: The owls. [01:06:01] Speaker C: The dad with the owls. We all like it. It's all. It's good.
